HomeMy WebLinkAbout02583 ORD - 08/09/1949I 1 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING ARID DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO E%ECIIT& ONTBACT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORPUS C I AND HEI.DENFBIS BROTHERS FOR THE CONSTROC ION OF SANITARY SEEM MISS, LAT ' °rR AND FURTENAHT STRUCTURES, EXTENDING SERVICE TO SCHOOL IN AND ALONG SHELL ROAD; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNOIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTICN 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized sud directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a Contract for the construction of Sanitary Sewer Main, Laterals and Appurtenant Struc- three, extending service to Savage School in and along Shell Road, for the sum of 98,388.50, payable out of No. 109 Sewer Fund, which Contract has been awarded to Heldenfels Brothers, a co- partnership, in accordance with the plane, specification and contract documents on file in the City Secretary's office, and according to the Bid of the said Heldenfels Brothers, opened on the 29th day of July, 1919, the said Bid of Heldenfels Brothers being the lowest and most advantageous to the City. SECTION 2. The fact that it is of beneficial interest to the City of Corpus Christi that extensions of the sanitary sewer be immediately begun in order to protect the health and general welfare of its citizen creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinanoe be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effeot from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that each ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby re- quest that you suspend said Charter r'u]e or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
