BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO PURCHASE 8.67 ACRES OF LAND MORE
OR LESS, BEING A TRACT OF LAND 160 FEET IN wiDTH AND ,
APPROXIMATELY 2520 FEET IN LENGTH OUT OF SECTION "C" OF
THE W. E. POPEIS RE- SUBDIVISION OF PORTIONS OF PORT_
ARANSAS CLIFFS ADDITION AND PAISLEY'S SUBDIVISICN OF
TEE HOFFMAN TRACT SITUATED IN NUECES COMM, TSXAS,
FROM GUARANTY TITLE AND TRUST COMPANY..A CORPORATICN,
TRUSTEE, AND JACK POPE, INDEPENDENT EXECOTOR OF THE
ESTATE OF W. E. POPE, DECEASED, FOR THE Sum OF S13,684.00
CASH, AND TITLE EXPENSE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
SAID CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND
INSTRUMMS TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE OF THE AFORESAID
LAND; PROVIDING THAT PAYMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEE
SAME SHALL BE PAID FROM NO. 295 nipwvEI w BONDS 1948
CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM BEIM IMPROVEMENTS); AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed, for and on behalf of the City to purchase the following described
land situated in Nueoes County, Texase
A tract of land 160 feet in width and approximately
2520 feet in length out of Section "C" of the W. E.
Pope's Re- Subdivision of Portions of Part Aransas
Cliffs Addition and Paisley's Subdivision of the
Hoffman Tract as shown by Map of record in the office
of the County Clerk of said County, said map recorded
in Vol- 4 page 57 of the Map Records of said county,
said tract of land being more particularly described
by metes and bounds as follows, to-wit-
Beginning at a point in the southwest boundary line of
Alameda (Central) Boulevard, said point bears N. 31° 06'
W. 780 feet from the intersection of the southwesterly
extension of the oenterlins of Doddridge Street and the
southwest boundary line of Alameda Boulevard;
Thence S. 580 541 W. a distance of 1245 feet to a point
for a corner of this description;
Thence N. 310 06' W. a distance of 80 feet to a point
in the westerly extension of the centerline of Proctor
Street for a corner of this description;
Thence S. 580 Sly' W. with the westerly extension of the
centerline of Proctor Street a distance of 320 feet to
a point for a corner of this description;
Thence S. 310 06, E. a distance of 80 feet to a point for
a corner of this description;
Thence E- 580 Sly' W. a distance of 955 feet more or less to
ite intersection with the northeast boundary line of South
Staples Street (Damp Road) for a corner of this description;
Thence N. 310 06' W. with the northeast boundary line'of
South Staples Street (Dump Road) a distance of 160 feet to
a point for a corner of this description;
Thence N. 580 541 E. a distance of 2520 feet more or less
to its intersection with the southwest boundary line of
Alameda (Central) Boulevard for a corner of this des-
cription; '
Thence S. 310 06, E. with the southwest boundary line of
Alameda (Central) Boulevard a distance of 160 feet to the
place of bsojn inn .
Containing 8.67 acres of laid, more or 399s.
All mineral, oil and gas in and under said land is reserved
to the Grantor,
all of said lands to be used for the Proctor Street Drainage Project now
under construction, and other municipal purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute the neoessary contracts for the purchase of said land
described in Section 1 hereof and to do all things incident to or requisite
to obtaining the title and possession of said land.
SECTION 3. That the sum of Thirteen Thousand Eight Hundred
Eighty-four Dollars (613,884.00) and such additional sums as may be incurred
as title expense incident to the aoquisition of said lend are to be paid
from No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1918 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improve-
ments).
SECTION Li. The necessity for acquiring land at the location of
said land herein described and the fact that the said land is required
immediately for the use of the drainage project now under construction
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolu-
tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Mayor having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this
ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen..
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
