AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND ON
BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO PURCHASE 1.84 ACRES OF LAND, SAID
LAND BEING A PORTION OF THE W. E. POPE RESUBDIVISION OA
PORT ARANSAS CLIFFS SUBDIVISION "D" SITUATED IN NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, FRCM GUARANTY TITLE AND TRUST COMPANY, A
CORPORATION, TRUSTEE, AND JACK POPE, INDEPENDENT EXECUTOR
OF THE ESTATE OF W. E. POPE, DECEASED, FOR TEE SUM OF
$3,304.80 CASE, AND TITLE EXPENSE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT-
ING THE SAID CITY MAwmrwa TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY CCN-
TRACTS AND INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE OF THE
AFORESAID LAND; PROVIDING THAT PAYMENT FOR THE PURCHASE
OF THE SAME SHALL BE PAID FROM NO. 295 CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI WATER WORKS CONSTRUCTION FUND; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and
directed, for and on behalf of the City, to purohase the following des -
oribed property situated in Nueoea County, Texas:
Being a tract of land 200 feet in width and 400 feet in length
out of a portion of the W. E. Pope Hesubdivision of Port
Aransas Cliffs Subdivision "D" as show by map of record in
the office of the County Clerk of Nueces County, Texas, and
recorded in Vol. 4. page 57 of the Map Records of said
county, said traot of land being more partioularly described
by metes and bounds as follows, to-
wit-BEGINNING at a 3A" iron pipe set 12" below the natural ground,
said point being the intersection of the northwest boundary
line of Everhart Road and the southwest boundary line of
Alameda Boulevard;
Thence N. 310 061 W. with the southwest boundary line of
Alameda Boulevard a distance of 433.80 feet to a point for
the southeast corner and beginning of this description; -
Thence S. 580 581 W. a distance of 400 feet to a point for
the Southwest corner of this description;
Thence N. 310 06, W. parallel to and 400 feet southwest of the
southeast boundary line of Alameda Boulevard a distance of
200 feet to a point for the northwest corner of this deacrip-
tion;
Thence N. 58 581 E. a distance of 400 feet to a point in the
southwest boundary line of Alameda Boulevard for the northeast
corner of this description;
Thence S. 310 06, E. with the southwest boundary line of
Alameda Boulevard a distance of 200 feet to the place of
beginning; containing 1.84 acres,
all of said lands to be used for an overhead water storage tank and other
uses of the Water Division of the Department of Public IItilitiea; and for
other municipal purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and directed
to execute the necessary contracts for the purchase of said land described in

Section 1 hereof and to do all things incident to or requisite to obtain-
ing the title and possession of said land.
SECTION 3. That the sum of Three Thousand Three Hundred Four
Dollars and Eighty Cents Mo304.80) and such additional sums as may be
incurred as title expense incident to the acquisition of said land are to
be paid from No. 298 City of Corpus Christi Water Works Construction Fund.
SECTION 4. The necessity for acquiring land at the location of
said land herein described and the fact that the said land is required
immediately for the use of the Water Department creates a public emergency
and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date
it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having re-
quested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be
passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
