AUTEGRIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT BY AND BETffM THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR ,
FOR. TER CONSTROCTICH OF SANITARY SENEA MAINS,
LATERALS AND APPURTENANT STRUCTORES ALONG
WATER STREET FROM LAGUNA STREET TO BELDEN
STREET; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAIN BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEYAS4
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and directed
to execute, for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, a Contract
for the construction of Sanitary Sewer Mains, Laterals and Appurtenant Struo-
tures along Water Street from Belden to Laguna Streets, for the sum of
$112.913.38, payable out of No. 295 Improvement Bonds 19148 Construction Fund
(Street Improvements), which contract has been awarded to T. H. Lee, a=-
tractor, in accordance with the plane, specifications and contract documents
on file in the City Secretary's office, and according to the Bid of the said
T. H. Lee, opened on the 9th day of August, 1949, the said Bid of the said
T. H. Ise being the lowest and most advantageous to the City.
SECTION 2. The fact that it is of beneficial interestlo the City
of Corpus Christi that extension of the sanitary sewer be immediately begun
in order to protect the health and general welfare of its citizens creates a
public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on
the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested
that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally
on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
