HomeMy WebLinkAbout02601 ORD - 09/27/1949AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS, AND OTHER THOROUGHFARES IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND FIXING PENALTY FOR VIOLATIONS AND REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS OF ORDINANCES IH CONFLICT HffonTH: , THE SAME BEING ORDINANCE NO. 22la, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI ON THE 16TH DAY OF MARCH, 1948, BY ADDING THEREUNTO A SECTION 106 (a) PROHIBITING THE PARKING OF ALL TRAILERS, SEMI- TRAILERc, POLE TRAILERS AND HOUSE TRAILERS UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS WM THE SAME ARE NOT ATTACHED TO A TRUCK TRACTOR OR OTHER MOTOR VEHICLE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORTAINan By THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance Po, 2241 passed and approved by the City Council on the 16th day of March, 1948, entitled, "AN ORDINANCE REGU- LATING TRAFFIC UPON THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS, AND OTHER THOROUGHFARES IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND FIXING PENALTY FOR VIOIATIONS AND REPEALING ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND SECTIONS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT EWE - WITH", be amended by the addition of the following section to follow Section 106 thereof and to be known as 106 (s): "SECTION 106 (a)- -PARKING OF TRe ILMS ON PUBLIC STREETS PROHIBITED.- - No person shall park any trailer, aemi- trailer, pole trailer, or house trailer upon a street unless the same is attached to a motor vehicle capable of moving the said trailer, semi - trailer, pole trailer, or house trailer. Am used herein the words °trailer ", "semi - trailer", "pole trailer" and "house trailer" should be interpreted as defined by Article 67O1d, Section 5 of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Taasa, and the words 'motor vehicle" shall be interpreted as defined In Article 67O1d, Section 2b of the Revised Civil Statutes of the State of Texas.' SECTION 2. Ln as much as unattended trailers of the types herein specified create a traffic hazard and hamper the use of the streets as fire lanes creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced, and that such Ordinance ADD/ or Resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emer- Saucy and imperative public necessity exists, and having requested that said Charter rule be suspended and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO ORDAINED- PASSED ARD APPROVED this tbe_224ay of 4-P , A.
