AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE N0. 2568
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
JULY 29, 1949 ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE RE-
GULATING AND LICENSING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE
DANCE HALLS, NIGHT CLUBS, TAVERNS, CABARETS,
AND DANCING SCHOOLS; R4UIRI24G THE PAYMENT
OF A LICENSE FEE AND PRESCRIBING THE SAME;
PROVIDING PENALTIESs AND DECLARING AN WER-
GENCY"; AND DECLARING AN RIEP.GFNCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
Section 1. Ordinance Number 2568 passed and approved by the
City Council July 29, 19119 entitled "An ordinance regulating and licensing
public and private dance halls, night clubs, taverns, cabarets, and dancing
schools; requiring the payment of a license fee and prescribing the same;
providing penalties; and declaring an emergency" and the same is hereby ex-
pressly repealed in force and effect.
Section 2. All other ordinances, whether referred to in said
Ordinance Number 2568 or not, now in effect are hereby continued in full force
and effect.

Section 3. The necessity for immediate repeal of Ordinance
Number 2568 before any enforcement was attempted creates a public emergency
and imperative public necessity requiring a suspension of the Charter rule
providing that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finaT]y on the day
it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative public necessity exists, and having
requested that sai4,. Charter rule be suspended and that this Ordinance be
passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that this Ordinance take
affect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, it is so
ordained. -7

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordivanee, a public emergency and imperative necessity wrist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
rMOlattom shall be passed finally on the date it to introduced, and
tb&t such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Cemeili I, therefore, hereby regwst that you suspend said Charter
rnli Or-requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
