AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. PASSED
AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL AUGUST 9, 1949
entitled VAN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULAT-
ING AND LICENSING OF PARKIIIG LOT OPERATORS; MAKING
IT AN OFFENSE TO OPERATE A PARKING LOT WITHIN THE
CITY LIMITS OF CORPUS CHRISi'I, TEXAS WITHOUT HAVING
OBTAINED A LICENSE THEREFOR; MU1RING THAT APPLICA-
TIONS BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY SECRETARY; SETTING
FORTH THE LICENSE FRK, TO BE CHARGED SAID OPERATORS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF LICENSES TO QUALI:FIEB
APPLICANTS; SETTING FORTH RULES AND REGULATIONS TO BE
FOILMED BY OPERATORS OF PARKING LOTS WITHIN THE CITY
LIMITS OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR THIS RE-
VOCATION OF LICENSS BY THE!CITY SECRETARY; PROVIDING
THAT E,TLOYEES OF PARKING LOT OPERATORS BE LICENSED
AND SETTING FORTH A LICENSE FEE THE"R&CR; PROVIDING
A Pffikll:f FOR A VIOLATION OF `SHE PROVISIONS THEREWITH;
AND DECLARING AN SiMGINCY"; AND DECLARING AN WEft-
GESCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS.

Section 1. Ordinance Number 45-79 passed and approved by the
City Council August 9, 1949 entitled "An ordinance providing for the regulating
and licensing of parking lot operators; making it an offense to operate a
parking lot within the city limits of Corpus Christi, Texas without having
obtained a license therefor; requiring that applications be submitted to the
City Secretary; setting forth the license fees to be charged said operators;
providing for the issuance of licenses to qualified applicants; setting forth
rules and regulations to be followed by operators of parking lots within the
city limits of Corpus Christi, Texas; providing for the revocation of licenses
by the City Secretary; providing that employees of parking lot operators be
licensed and setting forth a license fee therefor; providing a penalty for a
violation of the provisions therePith; and declaring an emergency" and the
same is hereby expressly repealed in farce and effect.
Section 2. All other ordinances, whether referred to in said
Ordinance Number 2578 or not, now in effect are hereby continued in full force
and effect.
Section 3. The necessity for immediate repeal of Ordinance
Number 2$78 before any enforcement was attempted creates a public emergency
and imperative public necessity requiring a suspension of the Charter rule
providing that no Ordinance or Resolution shall be passed finally on,the day
it is introduced, and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared
that such public emergency and imperative public necessity exists, and having
requested that said Charter rule be suspended and that this Ordinance be
passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that this Ordinance take
effect and be in full force and effect fron and after its passage, it is so
ordained,

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
