" AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A TRACT OF LAND SITUATED AT THE INTERSECTION OF HIGHWAY N0. 9.AND ELMORE DRIVE FRONTING 40 FEET ON HIGHWAY No. 9 AND 26.66 FEET ON ELMORE DRIVE OUT OF LOT 15, OF THE WOODLAWN AUDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS OHRISTI, NOECES COUNTY, TEXAS,. AND PROVIDING PAYMENT FOR SAME IN THE SOM OF $1,500,00 BE MADE OUT OF FOND NO.. 295 IMPROVEZNT BONDS 1918 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET INPROVMENTS); AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City is now engaged in a program of widening and im- proving Highway No. 9 as eu extension to Leopard Street in the City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and in addition a tract of land fronting 26.66 feet on Elmore Drive at the intersection of said Elmore Drive vd th Highway No. 9 and fronting 40 feet on said Highway No. 9 and being out of Lot 15 of the Woodlawn Addition to the City of Corpus - Christi, Nueces County, Texas, and particularly described as follows: Beginning at the southwest corner of Lot 15, of the Woodlawn Addition to the City of Corpus Christi; Thence N 299 121 E along the west line of said Lot 15, a distance of 26.66 feet to a point which is the southwest corner of a tract of land previously conveyed by the grantor to the State of Texas by deed dated the 1st day of November, 1945, and recorded in Vol. 315, Page 305, of the Deed Records of Nueces County; Thence S 890 %0' E along the south .line of the said previously conveyed tract of land, a distance of 40.0 feet to a point; Thence S 470 04, W a distance of 49.26 feet to a Point in the south line of Lot 15; Thence N 580 10, W along said south line of Lot 15, a distance of 20.16 feet to the place of beginning; Said strip or parcel of land contains 0.0216 Acres, more or less, and, WHEREAS, said property can be purchased for the sum of Fifteen Hundred Dollars ($1000.00) from the owner, LaMesa Land & Cgttle Company, a corporation, having its business office in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas; NOW, TID;REFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager of the City of Corpus Christi be, and he is, hereby authorized and directed to purchase from the owner and ob- tain a proper conveyance thereof to the City for the Sum of $1,500.00 payable out of Fund No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Street Improve- ments) and pay such title expense in addition thereto as may be incurred and �W 1y/ to execute the necessary contracts and agreements to complete said purchase. SECTION j. The fact that the State Highway Department is cooperating with the City in the establishment, construction and widen- ing of said Highway No. 9 at the location of the property hereby authorized to be purchased and is reac]y to proceed with the construc- tion work immediately on and adjacent to said property oreatea a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that ouch public emergency and .imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
