CHRISTI ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, AND
APPEARING OF RECORD 19 VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF
THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE OITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, AND AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME
THEREAFTER, AND IN PARTICULAR AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE
NO. 2266, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON
THE 14TH DAY OF MAY, 19148, AND APPEARING OF RECORD 127
VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND
RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY

Od MAY 4, 1946, IN THE PARTICULARS HEREIN SET FORTH
TO TIM, EFFECT THAT THE AREAS HEREIN DESCRIBED FROM
AND AFTER THIS DATE BE ZONED AS PROVIDED HEREIN;
PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES
IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ARE HEREBY REPEALED; AND DECLAR-
ING AN EMERGENCY.
1THEREAS, the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Corpus
Christi, after consideration of applications for rezoning of the several
areas hereinafter mentioned, in accordance with the provisions of the
present 'Zoning Ordinance, has recommended to the City Council of said City
that it is not advisable to make the hereinafter set out changes in the
present Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Map of the City of Corpus Christi;
and,
WHEREAS, the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Corpus
Christi has certified its recommendations to the effect that such rezoning
was not advisable; and,
WI2REAS, the City Council at its regular meeting held on Septem-
ber 20, 1949, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the 11th day of October,
1919, at 4.00 0,clock P. M.; and,
ITE0E0, proper notice of said hearing was published in the manner
provided by law; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 11th day of October, 1949,
at the time and place stated in said Notice, hold such hearing, where all
interested citizens, property owners, and other parties had the opportunity
to be heard on the proposed amendments, and that at said hearing all parties
interested and wishing to be heard were heard;
NWT, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEAS;
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing in Volume 9, at

Pages 565 at seq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of
Corpus Christi, and as amended from time to time, and in particular as
amended by Ordinance No. 2266 passed and approved by the City Council of
said City on the lath day of May, 1948, and appearing in Volume 16, Pages
339 at seq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of said City be amended
as followa=
A. That the said Zoning Map approved by the City Council on
May 16 1948_,be and the same is hereby amended in the following respects:
1. That that area described as Lot 8, Block 3,
Bayview Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and
being the property located at 1129 Third Street, be and
the same is hereby rezoned from "A -2" Second Apartment
House District Use so as to hereafter be and the some
is hereby zoned so as to be "B -1" Neighborhood Business
District Use.
2. That that area described as Lot 1, Block 8,
Bayview No. 2 Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, and
being that property located at the southwest corner of
Brownlee Blvd. and Buford Street, be and the same is here-
by rezoned from "R -2" Two Family Dwelling District Use so
as to hereafter be and the same is hereby zoned so as to
be "B -1" Neighborhood Business District Use.
3. That that area described as Lots 1 and 2, in
Block Ly Bayview Addition to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, be and the same is hereby rezoned from "A -1" First
Apartment House District Use so as to hereafter be.and the
same is hereby caned so as to be "B -3" Secondary Business
District Use,
SECTION 2. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be end the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of
Corpus Christi, approved on the Lath day of May, 19i8, as amended from time
to time, except as herein changed shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 5. The fact that it is of the greatest public importance
to put in force immediately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and Map as
hereinabove provided, for the purpose of providing for the orderly and pro-
gressive growth of the City, and the necessary protection of the lives,
health, property and welfare of the citizens creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule
providing that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on the date it
is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that
such public emergency and such imperative public necessity exist, requests
that said Charter rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage and after its
publication one time as is provided and required by the Charter of the City
of Corpus Christi, AND IT IS SO ORDAIIIED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
