AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
ADOPTED ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, AND APPEARING OF
RECORD IN VOLUME 9. PAGES .565 ET SEQ OF TEE.ORDINANCE AND
RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND AS
AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME THEREAFTER, AND IN PARTICULAR AS
jUMMED BY ORDINANCE N0. 2266, PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948, AND APPEARING OF
RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ OF THE ORDINANCE AND
RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY AMEND-
ING THE ZONING MAP APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 4,
1948, IN THE PARTICULARS HEREIN SET FORTH TO THE EFFECT
THAT THE AREAS HEREIN DESCRIBED FROM AND AFTER THIS DATE
BE ZONED AS PROVIDED HEREIN; PROVIDING THAT ALL ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH ARE HEREBY HE-
PEALED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Corpus
Christi has recommended to the City Council of said City that it is advisable
to make the hereinafter set out changes in the present Zoning Ordinance and
the Zoning Map of the City of Corpus Christi; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council at its regular meeting held on August 16,
1949, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the 13th day of September, 1949,
at 4:00 o'clock P. M.; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council at its regular meeting held on Septem-
ber 20, 1949, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the 11th day of .October,
1949, at 4:00 o'clock P. M.; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council at its regular meeting held on September
20, 1949, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the Bth day of October at
10:00 o'clock A. M.; and,
WHEREAS, proper notice of each and all of said hearings were pub-
lished in the manner provided by law; and,
WEBRFec, the City Council did on the relative dates of September 13,
1949, October 11, 1949, and October 8, 1949, hold such hearings, where all
interested citizens, property owners, and other parties had the opportunity to
be heard on the proposed amendments, and that at each and all of said hearings
all parties interested and wishing to be heard were heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing in Volume 9, at
Pages 565 et zeq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of Corpus

Christi, and as amended from time to time, and in particular as emended by
Ordinance No. 2266 passed and approved by the City Council of said City on
the 4th day of Mey, 1948, and appearing in Volume 16, Pages 339 at seq of
the Ordinance and Resolution Records of said City be amended as follows:
A. That the said Zoning Map approved by the City Council on May 4,
1948s be and the same is hereby amended in the following respects:
1. That that area described as Lots 6 and 7, Blake Sub-
division of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, be and the same
✓ is hereby rezoned from "R -1" One Family Dwelling District Use
to "A -3" Third Apartment House District Use.
2. That that area described as Lot 7, Block 9. Carroll Lane
Park Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, being that property
located at the South corner of the intersection of Willow Street
and South Staples Street, be and the same is hereby rezoned from
"R -1" One Family Dwelling District Use to "R-2" Two Family Dwell-
ing District Use.
3. That that area described as the West Half (*) of
Block 3, Hughes Addition to the City of Corpus Christi, being
the 1500 block on the East side of 11th Street lying between
Booty and Elizabeth Streets in the City of Corpus Christi, be
and the same is hereby rezoned from "R -2" Two Family Dwelling
District Use to "A -2" Second Apartment House District Use.
4. That that area described as all that portion of Lot 16,
Section G out of the Paisley Subdivision of the Roffman Tract,
more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows:
Beginning at the East corner of said Lot 16 of said
Section "G"
TWICE North 61 deg. 401 West, 570 feet to a stake
for corner being the North Gast corner of Section "G ",
Lot 16 also being the Northwest corner of this tract.
THENCE South 28 deg. 2DI West 387.23 feet to a stake
for corner;
THENCE South 61 deg. 40' East to a stake for corner
at 570 feet in the West line. of Chapman Reach Road,
THENCE North 28 deg. 201 East with the West line of
the Chapman Ranch Road 387.23 feet to the place of begin-
ning• containing in the aggregate 5 acres more or less,

map and plat records of said Subdivision on file in the
map and plat records of Nueces County, Texas;
Being generally that property lying adjacent to La
Armada Housing project extending 387 feet along Ayers
Street and running back 570, feet to the Gulf Drive -in
Theater,
be and the same is hereby zoned and rezoned so as to hereafter
be designated as an area zoned as "B -2" Secondary Business
District Use.
5. That that area described as the area bounded on the
North by Lawrence Drive, on the East by Nueces Bey Blvd., on
the South by leopard Street, and on the West by the West line
of Oliver Court extended northward to Lawrence Drive, being a
portion of the lands generally known as the Driscoll Tract and
now in pert zoned for "B-3"' Secondary Business District Use,
be and the same is hereby rezoned so that the same shall here-
after be for "B -3" Secondary Business District Use, conditioned
however, that a plat of the entire tract be in accordance with
the Platting Ordinance of the City of Corpus Christi submitted
to such authority as therein designated and the approval of
such authority, if any such approval be required, be obtained,
and that is the event no such approval be required by the terms
of such Platting Ordinance, that a plat of the entire tract be
submitted to and subject to the approval of the CS Engineer
and the City Council before the c ns ruction.

SECTION 2. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION j. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 1y. That the said Zoning .Ordinance, and Map of the City of
Corpus Christi, approved on the 44th day of 1
May, 948, as amended from time
to time, except as herein changed shall remain in full force and affect.
SECTION 5. The fact that it is of the greatest public importance
to put in force ims diately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and Map as
hereinabove provided, for the purpose of providing for the orderly and pro-
gressive growth of the City, and the necessary protection of the lives, health,
property and welfare of the citizens creates a public emergency and an impera-
tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter Rule providing
that no ordinance or resolution be passed finally on the date it is introduced
and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three (j) several meet-
ings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such public
emergency and such imperative public necessity exist, requests that said Charter
rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect and be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and after its publication one time as is pro-
vided and required by the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, AND IT IS SO
ORDAINED.

Gentlemsn:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergenay and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
