HomeMy WebLinkAbout02626 ORD - 11/01/1949I AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING T.kE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY 'ahITH SLOVAK BROTMS FOR TBE CONSTRUCTION OF A MASONRY AND WOOD COMMUNITY BUILD- ING IN LINDALE PARK; AUTHORIZING PAY- MENT UNDER SAID CONTRACT; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi to execute a contract with Slovak Brothers, a co- partnership consisting of Albin P. Slovak, Aillie R. Slovak and Adolf A. Slovak, for the construction of a masonry and wood community building in Liudale Park, Nueoes County, Texas, which contract has been awarded said Slovak Brothers in accordance with the plans, speci- fications and contract documents on file in the City Secreteryvs office, and according to the bid of said Slovak Brothers, being the lowcat and moat advantageous to the City. SECTION 2. That the sum of Twenty -one Thousand Seventy -six Dollars and Ninety -seven Cents (021,076.97) to become due under said contract shall be paid from Park Improvement Bonds, 194B Construction Fund. SECTION j. The necessity for providing adequate parks and park facilities within the City creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and impera- tive necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 50 ORDAINED.
