AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO PURCHASE 1.916 ACRES OF
LAND, MORE OR LESS, BEING A STRIP OF LAND 60 FEET
IN WIDTH OUT OF LOT 7, .SECTION A OF THE PAISLEY'S
SUBDIVISION OF THE HOFFMAN TRACT, SITUATED IN NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, AND 0.606 ACHES OF LAND, MORE OR LESS,
BEING A STRIP OF LAND 20 FEET IN WIDTH AND 1,320 FEET
IN LENGTH OUT OF LOT 11, SECTION A.OF THE PAISLE'Y'S
SUBDIVISION OF THE HOFFMAN TRACT, SITUATED IN NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, FROM MRS. FRANC G. FRENCH, A WIDOW,
MRS. MAUDE FRENCH SMITH, A FINE SOLE, AND HERBERT
FRENCH OF NMES COUNTY, TEXAS AND FRANCIS FRENCH OF
hSENEDY COUNTY, TEIAS FOR THE SUM OF $3328.50 CASH,
AND TITLE EXPENSE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE SAID
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE.NECESSARY CONTRACTS AND
INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE OF THE AFORESAID
LAND; PROVIDED THAT PAYMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE
SAME SHALL. BE PAID FROM NO. 295 IMPROVEMENT BONDS
1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS);
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNG31 OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed,
for and on behalf of the City, to purchase 1.916 acres of lend described as
follows, to -wit:
Being a strip of land 60 feet wide out
of Lot 7 Section A of the Paisley's subdivision of
the Hoffman Tract as shown by Map -of record in the
office of the County Clerk of Nueces County, Texas,
and recorded in Volume A page 28 of the Map records
of said County. Said strip of land being more par -
ticularly described by metes and bounds as follows,
to -wit.
Beginning at a point in the northwest
southeast boundary line between lots 6 and 7, Sec-
tion A of said Paisley's Subdivision for the south-
west corner of the tract hereby conveyed. Said point
bears H280- 141 -27e E 26.68 feet from the cennon
corner of lots 6,7, 10 and 11 Section A of said
Paisley's Subdivision;
Thence N 280.14+ -27e E with the said
boundary line between lots 6 and 7 Paisley's Sub-
division a distance of 113.32 feet to a point for
the northwest corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence N 600- 12' -40a E a distance of
1342.47 feet to a point in the southwest boundary line of
South Staples Street (Dump Road) for the northeast
corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence S 31?40'_50` E with the southwest
boundary line of South staples street (Dump Road) a
distance of 60.01 feet to a point for the southeast
corner of the tract hereby conveyed; -
Thence S 600 -12' 0 W a distance of
1439.88 feet to the place of beginning. Containing
1.916 acres of land more or less
all of said lands to be used for drainage ditch and/or roadways now under
construction, and other municipal purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and
directed, for and on behalf of the City, to purchase 0.606 acres of land
described as follows, to -wit:
A strip of land 20 fast is width and 1320 feet in
length out of Lot 11 Section A of the Paisleys Subdi-
vision of the Hoffman Tract as shown by map of record
in the office of the County Clerk of Nueoes County,
Texas, and recorded in Volume A page 28 of the Map
Records of said County, said strip of land being more
particularly described by metes and bounds as follows,
to -wit:
Beginning at a point in the northwest boundary
line of Lot 11 Section A Paisleys Subdivision, said
point bearing S 280- 14' -27" W 20 feat from the common
corner of lots 5, 6, 11 and 12 Section A of said
Paisleys Subdivision, said beginning point being a
Point on the western boundary line of the 40 foot
Public Road dedicated on the Map record and commonly
referred to as Oollihar Road.
Thence in a Southeasterly direction 20' from and
running parallel with the common boundary line of Lots
6 and 11, Section A of said Paisley's Subdivi.sion,.a
distance of 1320 feet to a point in.the common boundary
line of Lots 10 and 11 Section A of said Paisleys Sub-
division for the northeast corner of the tract hereby
conveyed;
Thence S 280- 14-27" A with the common boundary
line of Lots 10 and 11 Section A of said Paisleys
Subdivision a distance of 20 feet to a point for the
southeast corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence in a Northwesterly direction 40' from and
running parallel with the common boundary line of Lots
6 and 11 Section A of said Paisleys Subdivision, a
distance of 1320 feet to a point on the cornon boundary
line of Lots 11 and 12 Section A of said Paisleys Subdi-
vision for the southwest corner of the tract hereby oon-
veyed.

vision a. distance of 20 feet to the place of beginning.
Containing 0.606 &area of land more or lose.
all of Said lands to be used for drainage ditch and/or roadways now under

SECTION 3. That the City Manager is hereby authorised and
directed to execute the necessary contracts tar the purchase of said lands
described in Sections 1 and 2 hereof and to do all things incident to or
requisite to obtaining the title and possession of said lands.
SECTION 4. That the purchase price of the property described in
Section 1 of Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy -Four Dollars and No Cents
(62,8711.00), and such additional sums as may be incurred as title expense
incident to the aoqui.sition of said land are to be paid from No. 295 Improve.
mont Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Storm Server Improvements).
SECTION 5. That the purchase price of the property described in
Section 2 of Four Hundred and Fifty Four Dollars and Fifty cents (14,50),
and such additional sums as may be incurred as title expense incident to the
acquisition of said land are to be paid from No. 295 Improvemont Bonds 1948
Construction Fund (Storm Serer Improvements).
SECTION 6. The necessity for acquiring land at the location of
said land herein described and the fact that the said laud is required immediately
for the use of the drainage project and/or roadways creates a public emergency
and public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its
introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
Passage, IT LS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIN®.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fors -
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
