AN CRDINANCE
AMENDING SECTIOV 46 OF ARTICLE IV OF ORDI-
NANCE NO. 221A, REGULATING TRAFFIC UPON.
THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS, AND OTHER
THOROUGHFARES OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEAS, BY ADDING TH$R$ONTO REGULATIONS
GOV11MING VEHICULAR TRAFFIC UPON TICS FLASH-
ING OF A SPECIRM LIGHT SIGNAL INDICATING
APPROACH OF AN MWENCY VEHICLE.
BE IT ORDAINdD BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRIS''TI,
TEXAS
=TION 1. That Section 46 of Article IV of Ordinance No. 2241,
be so amended so as to read hereafter as follows:
"Section 46. Flashing Signals. Whenever flashing red
or yellow or alternate red and yellow signals are used, they
shall require obedience by vehicular traffic as follows:
(1) Flashing red (stop signal). Whan a red lens ,
is illuminated by rapid intermittent flashes,
drivers of vehicles shall stop before enter-
ing the nearest crosswalk at an intersection
or at a ]_unit line when marked and the right
to proceed shall be subject to the rules appli-
cable after making a stop at a stop sign.
(2) Flashing yellow (caution signal). --When a yellow
lens is illuminated with rapid intermittent flashes,
drivers of vehicles may proceed through the inter-
section or past such signal only with caution.
(3) Alternate Flashing red and yellow (emergency
signal), When a traffic signal light rapidly
flashes alternate red and yellow, drivers shall
immediately drive to a position parallel to, and
as close as possible to, the right hand edge or
curb of the roadway clear of any intersection and
shall stop and ranain in such position until the
alternate flashing red and yellow lights have
ceased operation, except when otherwise directed
by a police officer. This signal shall be used
to indicate the presence of authorized fire and
police Emergency vehicles in the immediate vicinity."
SECTION 2, Nothing herein shall be construed so as to change,
modify, alter or amend Section 37 of Article III of Ordinance No. 2241.
The foregoing ordinance was read the first time and passed to the
second reading on the 1$ day of November, 1949, by the following vote.
