CHECKER CAB COMPANY, A CORPORP_TIO_d, TO CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPORTATION CO., A CORPORATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, did on the 30th day of April, 1946, pass and approve an ordinance granting a franchise to C. C. Checker Cab Company, a corporation, said ordinance being or- dinance No. 1896 of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and 'MMTMAS, the said C. C. Checker Cab Company has been granted and now holds eighteen (18) taxicab permits duly issued by the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, under said franchise and in connection therewith; and WHEREAS, Corpus Christi Transportation Co., has purchased the said franchise of C. C. Checker Cab Company including the eighteen (18) permits granted in connection therewith and thereunder by the City of Corpus Christi, such sale being subject to the approval of the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHHISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the taxicab franchise and all amendments there- to and all rights and privileges thereunder and incident thereto which was issued to said C. C. Checker Cab Company on April 30, 1966, is hereby transferred to Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, and said transfer is hereby approved. SECTION 2. That the said Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, shall be bound by all the terms, covenants and obligations of said original franchise and all amenchents thereto issued to C. C. Checker Cab Com- pany. SECTION 3. The fact that the Corpus Christi Transportation Co., cannot legally operate cabs under the aforesaid franchise and permits without ap- proval of the City Council creates a public emergency and public imperative neces- sity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Ma�•or having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule.be suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the day of its introduction and take effect, and be in full force and effect, from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
