THE OPERATION OF 240TOR VEHICLES AS AIRPORT MMOUSINES OVER THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, NCW HELD BY BLUE & WHITE CAB COMAY, A CORPORATION, TO CORPUS CHRISTI TRANSPOR- TATION CO., A CORPORATION, AND DECLARING AN EIJERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texaa, did on the 19th day of June, 1945, pass and approve an .ordinance granting a franchise to Blue & White Cab Company, a partnership composed of E. P. Edgeworth, Jr., Rai B. Jones, A. L. Witten, E. M. Fox, D. J. Ciana, and W. E. Powers, said ordinance being Ordinance No. 1083 of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and IMEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas dial effective July 21, 1946, pass and approve an ordinance transferring such franchise to Blue &. White Cab Company, a corporation, said ordinance being or- dinance No. of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, has purchased the said franchise and the two (2) motor vehicle permits thereunder from the present owner and holder, Blue & White Cab Company, a corporation, such sale being subject to the approval of the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SECTION 1. That the franchise for the operation of motor ve- hicles as airport limousines over the streets of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and all amendments thereto and all rights and privileges thereunder and incident thereto which was issued to the partnership composed of E. P. Edgeworth, Jr., Rex B. Jones, A. L. Witten, E. M. Fox, D. J. Cisna and W. E. pavers, and was transferred by said partnership to Blue &. White Cab Company, a corporation, is hereby transferred to Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, and said transfer is hereby approved. SECTION 2. That the said Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, shall be bound by all the terms, covenants and obligations of said original franchise and all amendments thereto originally issued to Blue &. White Cab Company, a partnership, and subsequently transferred to Blue & White Cab Company, a corporation. _1- — SECTION 3. Tim fact that the Corpus Christi Transportation Co., cannot legally operate airport limousines under the aforesaid franchise and permits without approval of the City Council creates a public emergency and pub- lic imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter role that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and im- perative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be sus- pended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the day of its introduction and take effect, and be in full force and effect, from and after its passage, IT IS ACCOSDINGIY SO ORDAIISID. Lowman a&il passed by tbq following vote; aU53 Corpus Christi, Texas Novembera%, 19119 City Council City of Corpus Christi Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: The undersigned Blue & White Cab Company, a corporation, has transferred to Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, all its right, title and interest in and to the franchise and fifty -two permits thereunder now held by said corporation from the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, permitting said corporation to operate taxicabs and a taxi- cab business in the city. The undersigned Blue & White Cab Company has also trans- ferred to Corpus Christi Transportation Co., all its right, title and interest in and to the franchise, license and permits now owned and held by it from the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, known as the Airport Limousine franchise together with the two permits thereunder. We hereby ask the approval of these transfers. Checker Cab Company, a corporation, has transferred to Corpus Christi Transportation Co., a corporation, all its right,.title and interest in and to the franchise and eighteen permits thereunder now held by said corporation from the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, permitting said corporation to operate taxicabs and a taxi- cab business in the city.
