Section 2. All employees holding positions corresponding to any of the above classes as determined by the amount of salary being paid, unless their positions or places of employment be abo- lished, shall retain the grade determined by salary of their present position as probationers for six months, and thereafter until promoted, reduced or discharged in accordance with the rules of the Fire,�_onls and Policemen's Civil Service Conaission. Section 3. The number of positions in each classification and each grade thereof shall be determined by the City Manager as may be necessary for efficient operation of the Division;. subject, how- ever, to the limitation provided by the current budget. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in direct conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed to the extent of such conflict only. Section 5. The necessity for complying with the requirements of the State law regarding classification of employees in the Fire Division in adopting such classification immediately creates a pub- lic emergency and public imperative necessity requiring the suspeasion Of 'Lae Ciiarzer rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the PSayor having declared that such public emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take - affect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. PASSED AND APPROVED this 3 day of January, A.D., 1950 MAYOR ATTEST: City of Corpus Christi, Texas City Secretary APPROVED AS TO LEGAL FORM: City Att ney Corpus Ch isti, Texas January , 1950 TO THE 2MIMERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, a public emergency end imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or re- quirement -that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed final- ly on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or re- solution shall be read at three meetina of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finale on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
