IlvG ORDINANCE AS AMENDED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
9HEYEAS, the Zoning and Planning Commis ion of the City of Corpus Christi
has recommended to the City Council of said City that it is advisable to make the
hereinafter set out changes in the present Zoning Ordinance and the Zoning Niap of
the City of Corpus Christi; and,
'rfIREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, at its regular
meeting held on December 20, 1919, ordered a Public Hearing to be held on the 10th
day of January, 1950, at 4:00 o1olcok P. M.; and,
MIRE-13, proper notice of said hearing was published in the manner provided
by 7a w; and,
'iv"h;?TEAS, the City Council did on the 10th day of January, 1950, hold such
hearing, where all interested citizens, property owners, and other parties had the
opportunity to be heard on the proposed amendments, and that at such hearing all
parties interested and wishing to be heard were heard;
NON, THEnEFORB, BE IT ORDAE-IM BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS.
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Yap of the City of Corpus Christi
passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing in Volume 9, at Pages 565 at seq
of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of the City of Corpus Christi, and as amended
from time to time, and in particular as amended by Ordinance No. 2266 passed and
approved by the City Council of said City on the 4th day of May, 1948, and appearing
in Volume 16, Pages 339 et seq of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of said City
be amended as set forth in Sections 2 and 3 hereof.
SECTION 2. That the zoning of that tract of ]and described as:
Lots Seven (7) and Eight (8), Block Four (4),
BAYVIEP! ADDITION, CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE =,
be changed from present zoning for A -1, First Apartment House District use, to
B-3, Secondary Business District use, and the same is hereby rezoned.
SECTI.UM 3. That the said zoning of that tract of land described as:
Lots Nine (9), Ten (10), Eleven (11), Twelve (12)
Thirteen (13) and Fourteen (14), Block 1405,
WRCHANTS ADDITION NO. 6, CITY OF CORPJS Ci- RISTI,
be changed from present zoning for R-2, Two Family Dwelling District use, to
B-1, Neighborhood Business District use, and the same is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 4. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus Christi,
be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus
Christi, approved on the 4th day of May, 1948, as amended from time to time, ex-
cept as herein changed shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 7. The fact that it is of the greatest public importance to put
in force immediately the changes in the Zoning Ordinance and ivap as hereinabove
provided, for the purpose of providing for the orderly and progressive growth of
the City, and the necessary protection of the lives, health, property and welfare
of the citizens creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or resolution be
passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution
shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the layer, having
declared that such public emergency and imperative public necessity exist, requests
that said Charter Rule be suspended, and that this Ordinance take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage and after its publication one time
as is provided, and required by the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, AND IT IS
SO ORDJkUED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
