AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER, FOR AND
014 BEHALF OF THE CITY, TO PURCHASE 2,51 ACRES OF LAND
BEING ON THE EAST SIDE OF LOT 15, SECTION I OF THE
PAISLEY'S SUBDMSION OF THE HOFFMAN TRACT, NUECES
COUNTY, TEYAS FROM MRS. JAMES C. JOHPISON FOR THE SUM
OF $3,514.00 CASH, AND TITLE EMNSE; AUTHORIZING AND
DIRECTING THE SAID CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECES-
SARY CONTRACTS AND INSTRUMENTS TO COMPLETE THE PUR-
CHASE OF THE AFORESAID LAND; PROVIDING THAT PAYMENT FOR
THE PURCHASE OF THE SAPS SHALL B3 PAID FROM NO. 295
IMPROVEMENT BONDS, 1948 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STORM SWER
IMPROVW3NTS); AND DECLAR.MiG AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed,
for and on behalf of the City, to purchase 2.51 acres of land described as
follows, to-wit: _
A tract of land 100 feet in width and 1179.54 feet in
length out of the east side of Lot 15, Section I of the
Paisley's Subdivision of the Hoffman Tract as shown by map
of record in the office of the County Clerk of Nueces County,
Texas and recorded in Volume A page 28 of the Map Records
of said County. Said tract of land being more particularly -
described by metes and bounds as follows, to -wit:
Beginning at the common corner of Lots 1 and 2, Section
B. and Lots 15 and 16, Section I of said Paisley's Subdivision
for the southeast corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence N 610 491 40" N with the common boundary line be..
tween Lot 2, Section B and Lot 15, Section I of said Paisley's
Subdivision a distance of 100.00 feet to a point for the south-
west corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence N 280 101 20" E parallel to the common boundary line
between Lots 15 and 16, Section I a distance of 860.05 feet to
a point for a corner of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence curve to the right in an easterly direction along
the arc of a circular curve having a radius of 550.00 feet and
a central angle of 300 381 20" a distance of 294.11 feet to
the point of tangent to said curve;
Thence N 580 48- 4a' E a distance of 45.45 feet to its
intersection with the common boundary line of Lots 15 and 16
Section I of said Paisleys Subdivision for the north corner
of the tract hereby conveyed;
Thence S 280 10- 20" W with the said common boundary line
between Lots 15 and 16 Section I, a distance of 1179.54 feet to
the place of beginning.
Containing 2.51 acres of land more or less.

all of said lands to be used for the Proctor Street Drainage Channel
now under construction, and other municipal purposes.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed
to execute the necessary contracts for the purchase of said lands described
in Section 1 hereof and to do all things incident to or requisite to ob-
taining the title and possession of said land.
SECTION 3. That the purchase price of the property described herein
of Three Thousand Five Hundred and Fourteen Dollars ($3,51400), and such addi-
tional sums as may be incurred as title . expense incident to the acquisition
of said land are to be paid from No. 295 Improvement Bonds, 1948 Construction
Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements).
SECTION k. The necessity for acquiring land at the location of
said land herein described and the fact that the said land is required im-
mediately for the use of the drainage project creates a public emergency and
public imperative necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several
meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public
emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen,,
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
