CLOSING THE ALLEY BISECTING BLOCK THREE (3), OCEAN
VIEW ADDITION TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, NUECES
COUNTY, TEXAS, RUNNING THROUGH SAID BLOCK IN A
SOUTHERLY DIRECTION FROM MORGAN STREET TO ELIZABETH
STREET AND LYING BETWEEN THIRTY STREET AND SANTA FE
STREET, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, notice of the closing of the alley bisecting Block
Three (3), Ocean View, an addition to the City of Corpus Christi,
Nueces County, Texas, running in a Northerly - Southerly direction from
Morgan Street to Elizabeth Street and lying between and paralleling
Santa Fe Street and Third Street, has been given by publication and
by mail to the last known address of all owners abutting said des-
cribed alley and within 450 feet thereof, and thereafter, pursuant
to said notice, to -wit, on the 14th day of February, 1950, the pub-
lic hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, in accordance with the provisions of Section 6, Ar-
ticle 2, of the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, it has been duly determined by the City Council
after such public hearing that the hereinafter described alley should
be closed and that it will be to the advantage of the City of Corpus
Christi to have said alley closed, except for use by public utilities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the following described alley, to -wit: That
alley which bisects Block Three (3), Ocean View, an Addition to the
City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, which said block is
bounded on the West by Santa Fe Street, on the South by Elizabeth
Street, on the East by Third Street and on the North by Morgan Street,
and said alley runs through said block, in a Northerly- Southerly
direction from Morgan Street to Elizabeth Street, be closed to pub-
lic use, and that the dedication thereof as appears in the plat of
said Ocean View Addition filed in the Map Records in Volume 1, page
12 of Nueces County, Texas, be cancelledq SAVE AND EXCEPT as an easement
for public utilities.
SECTION 2. That said alley above described is hereby closed,
and abandoned for all purposes, except for retention of an easement
therein for the use of public utilities.
SECTION 3. The fact that public convenience and necessity
will be better served by the immediate closing of such described. alley
creates a public emergency and public imperative necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of
the City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public
emergency and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that
such Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; 1, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
