CLOSING THAT PORTION OF PRICE STREET BETWEEN THE
SOUTHERN BOUNDARY LINE OF AYRES STREET AND THE
NORTH BOUNDARY LINE OF LEWIS STREET IN THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, ALL OF SAID STREET AS
CLOSED BEING IN TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND
DIRECTING THAT THE SAID CLOSING BE ONLY FOR THE
LIMITED PURPOSE OF CLOSING SAID PORTION OF PRICE
STREET TO TRAFFIC AND TO THE EXISTENCE AND MAINTEN-
ANCE OF SAID STREETIWITH THE EXCEPTION AS SET FORTH
HEREIN; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi
has been petitioned that a portion of Price Street hereinafter described,
be closed for street purposes; and,
WHEREAS, Notice of the proposed closing of said street
has been given by publication and by mail to the last known address of all
owners abutting said street and within 450 feet therefrom, in accordance
with the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi as provided for under Ar-
ticle II, Section 6 thereof; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Notice given as above set
out, a public hearing was held by the City Council of the City of Corpus
Christi at 4:00 o'clock PM on the 14th day of February, 1950, in the City
Council Chamber at the City Hall, and,
WHEREAS, the public welfare, safety, convenience and neo-
essity will be better served by the closing of certain portions of said street
to traffic and to the existence and maintenance of said street; SAVE AND EX-
CEPT as a right- of-way for public utility and storm sewer use,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That a portion of Price Street described as
follows, to nit:
All that portion of Price Street between the South-
ern boundary line of Ayres Street and the North
boundary line of Lewis Street in the City of Corpus
Christi, as shown by map records of record in the
office of the County Clerk, Nueces County, Texas,
be and 'the same is hereby closed to publio; SAVE AND EXCEPT for the use of
the same as an easement for public utilities and storm sewer and drainage
purposes, and the dedication thereof is not vacated and the same is here-
by retained for all such purposes.

SECTION 2. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby releases
and relinquishes all right, title and interest in or to any of said street
described in Section 1 hereof to the property owners abutting said street;
SAVE AND EXCEPT the right, title and interest therein as an easement for
public utilities, storm sewer, and drainage purposes.
SECTION 3. The fact that public convenience and necessity
will be better served by the closing of said street as a public thorough-
fare creates a public emergency and a public imperative necessity requir-
ing the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordin-
ance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council; and the Mayor, having declared that such purlio emergency and
imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter Rule
be suspended and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date it is
introduced, and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
