HomeMy WebLinkAbout02726 ORD - 03/14/1950A RESOLUTION SETTING ASIDE AND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS, TO -WIT, PORTIONS OF PEOPLES STREET T -HEAD AND LAWRENCE STREET T- HEAD, AS PARK AREAS; ARID DECLARL`IG AN EMERGENCY. vTzMREAS, Certain portions of Peoples Street T -Head and Lawrence Street T -Head are suitable for park and recreation purposes, and WBEREAS, It is desirable to improve the some as park and recrea- tion areas and to use for such improvements such appropriated funds available for permanent park improvements; N(IT, THEREFORE, BE I'T RESOLVED SY 2HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, T---AS: SECTION 1. That portion of the area of Peoples Street TrHead within and bounded by the roadways adjacent to the edges of said T -Head (the area herein designated being bounded by the said roadways and not including the said roadways) be and the same is hereby designated as park area to be improved, used, maintained, and controlled as part of the park and recreation property of the City of Corpus Christi for the use of the public. SECTION 2. That portion of the area of Lawrence Street T -Bead within end bounded by the roadways adjacent to the edges of said T -Head (the area herein designated being bounded by the said roadways and not including the said roadways) be and the same is hereby designated as park area to be improved, used, maintained, and controlled as part of the park and recreation property of the City of Corpus Christi for the use of the public. SECTICN 3. The fact that the improvements should be commenced as soon as practical on the areas herein designated as park and recreation areas, and that it is necessary that such desig- nation be made as a dedication of said property for the use of the public as park and recreation areas creates a public emergency and 2-7 imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of that certain Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed final- ly on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolu- tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayors having declared that such public emergency and impera- tive public necessity exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and this ordinance be passed finally on the date it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO RESOLVN D. PASSED IM APPROVED, This the lath day of March, A.D., Imay T: MAYOR The City of Corpus Christi, Texas Secre ary APPROVED AS LEGAL FORDS: City Attorney 2? 2(P Corpus Christi, Texas / d , 1949 TO THE MELBEES OF THE CITY COUNCIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
