WHEREAS, Certain Park improvements have been deemed nec- essary to provide recreation facilities at South Bluff Park, and it is necessary to make appropriations out of the proper fund for the payment thereof,and to enter into a contract for the oonstruo- tion of said improvements; and NEEREAS, Bids have been received, considered, and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, and it is now necessary to authorize the execution of a contract in accordance with said award; NON, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TE USs SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construotiou Fund (Park Improvements) the sum of $13,778.00, out of which fund there is to be paid, according to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof, the sum of #11,889.00, and the balance of said appropriation is the amount equivalent to ten per cent of said contract price, which amount is hereby appropriated for the pay- ment of architect's fees, teats, and other contingent costs of said project. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby author- ized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract for the construction of Tennis Looker 2-737 Rooms at South Bluff Park in the City of Corpus Christi, with Slovak Brothers, Inc., a corporation,of Nneces County, Texas, which oontract has been awarded said Slovak Brothers, Inc., in accordance with plane and specifications and contract documante on file in the office of the City Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of said Slovak Brothers, Inv., which bid being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 3. The fact that contemplated improve- mute ute are permanent improvements and are a part of the park system of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and that it is necessary to commence construction of said improvements at once creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of that certain Charier rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that said Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 30 ORDAINED.
