AN ORDINANCE

DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC 17ORKS TO PROCEED WITH
SUCH WORK TO BE DONE BY CITY FORCES;
AND DECLARING AN 3aMGWIC
WHEREAS, There is needed approximately 06,160.00 to pay
for cost of installation of approximately 970 feet of 81, Sanitary
Sewer Main to be laid in Third Street from Booty to the easement
line between Cole and Del Mar Streets and relaying approximately
130 feet of 81, Sanitary Sewer in said easement; and
WFE EAS, There are sufficient funds available for such
installation cost in Fund No. 299 Sanitary Sewer Improvements; and
WHER&&S, It is contemplated that said work will be done
by the City Forces;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY 011 CORPUS CHRISTI, TESAS:
SECTION I. There is hereby appropriated the sum of $6,160.00
from Fund No. 299 Sanitary Sewer Improvements, 05,600.00 of which amount
is the estimated cost of installation of approximately 970 feet of
811 Sanitary Sewer Main to be laid in Third Street from Booty to the
easement line between Cole and Del Mar Streets and relaying approxi-
mately 130 feet of 81, Sanitary Sewer in said easement for which it
is to be used; the balance of said appropriation is the amount
equivalent to ten percent of said estimated cost, which amount is
hereby appropriated to cover contingent costs of said project.
SECTION II. The Director of Public works of the City
Of Corpus Christi is hereby directed to proceed with the work
described in Section I hereof and to be done by City Forces.
SECTION III. The fact that it is necessary to commence
such work at once in order to relieve the existing conditions and

to provide adequate sanitary sewer mains to serve said area and to
protect the health and general welfare of the peoples of the City
of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three
several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared
that such emergency and public necessity exist, requesting that
said Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
