WHEREAS, There is needed approximately $3500 to pay for cost Of installation of overhead traffic control Stop -and- Go lights at the following locations: 1. Louisiana and South Staples Streets, at the entrance of Arcadia Village in the City of Corpus Christi; 2. 18th and South Staples Streets, in the City of Corpus Christi; 3. Brownlee Boulevard and Lipan Streets, in the City of Corpus Christi; and 4- Comanche and 19th Streets, in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, as a part of the traffic control system of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available for such installation cost in Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Con- struction Fund (Street Traffic Control System Improvements); and WHEREAS, It is contemplatedthat said work will be done by the City Electrical Division; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TERAS: SECTION I. There is hereby appropriated the stub of 03500 from Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control System Improvements), $3,465.94 of which amount is the estimated cost of installation of such aver -head traffic control Stop - and -Go lights, a copy of such 2713 Estimate of Cost is attached hereto and made a part hereof] the balance of said appropriation is the amount of $"06, which amount is hereby appropriated to cover incidental ex- penses; such work to be done by the City Elsatrioal Division. SECTION II. The necessity of providing adequate safety devices as a part of our traffic control system of the City of Corpus Christi to guard the health, safety, and gener- al welfare of the Citizens of Corpus Christi creates a publio emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting the sus- pension of such Charter rule, and that this ordinance b!e passed finally on the day it is introduced and that it take ef- fect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
