HomeMy WebLinkAbout02763 ORD - 05/02/1950winger :co , 5/1/50 (6) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEY TO BE PAID AS CONSIDERA- TION IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF CERTAIN PERMANENT PARK IMPROVEMENTS FROM FUND NO. 296 IMPROVE - MLNT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (PARK IMPROVEMENTS); AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHLF OF THE CITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH BRASELTON CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF SAID IMPROVE- MENTS (ADDITIONS TO LINDALE PARK COMMUNITY BUILDING); SUCH CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS BEING MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Certain improvements have been determined to be neces- sary, and it is necessary to make appropriations out of the proper fund for the payment thereof and to enter into a contract for the construc- tion of said improvements; and WHEREAS, Bids have been received, considered, and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, and it is now necessary to authorized the execution of a contract in accord- ance with said award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Park Improvements) the sum of $23,476.20, out of which fund there is to be paid accord- ing to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof the sum of $21,342.00, and the balance of said appropriation is the amount equivalent to ten per cent of said contract price, which amount is hereby appropriated for the payment of engineering and contingent costs of said project. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract for the construction of additions to Lindale Park Community Building as a part of the Permanent Park Improvements of the City of Corpus Christi, with Braselton Construction Company of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, which contract has been awarded said Braselton 2-7 (o3 Construction Company, in accordance with plans and specifications and contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference, and ac- cording to the bid of said Braselton Construction Company opened on the 25th day of April, 1950, the said bid of Braselton Construction Company being the lowest and most advantageous to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 3. The necessity for providing park and recreation facilities and the necessity for enlarging said building as a part of Permanent Park Improvements of the City creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of that certain Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
