'iT- TTRDAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, at
it; regular meeting held on 16arcTa7, 1950, ordered a Public Hear-
in. to be relc en the llth day of April, 1950, at 1;:00 o'clook
and
mod, ^3A5, proper notice of said hearing was published in the
manner provided by law; and

WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 11th day of April, 1950
hold such hearing, where all interested citizens, property owners,
and other parties had the opportunity to be heard on the proposed
amendments, and that at such hearing all parties interested and
wishing to be heard were heard; whereupon such hearing was recessed
until the 26th day of April, 1950, at which time all interested
citizens, property owners, and other parties had the opportunity
to be heard on the proposed amendments, and that at such hear-

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXASs
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appear-
ing in Volume 9, at pages 565 at seq of the Ordinance and Resolu-
tion Records of the City of Corpus Christi, and as amended from
time to time, and is particular as amended by Ordinance No. 2266
passed and approved by the City Council of said City on the 4th
day of May, 1946, and appearing in Volume 16, Pages 339 at seq
of the Ordinance and Resolution Records of said City be amended
in the following particulars set forth in Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, and
6 hereof:
SECTION 2. That the zoning of that tract of land described
as
Southwest corner of Redden and Dunbar
Streets, being Lots 13 and 14 in Block
"C ", REYNOLDS ADDITION to the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning for R -1, One - Family Dwelling Dis-
trict use, to B -1 Neighborhood Business District use, and the same
is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 3. That the zoning of that tract of land described
as
Lots 41 through 48 inclusive, Block 1600
BAY TERRACE NO. 2 ADDITION to the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning for R -1, One - Family Dwelling Dis-
trict use, to R -2, Two - family Dwelling District use, and the same
is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 4. That the zoning of that tract of land described
as
Being a tract of land 220 feet in depth,
extending approximately 700 feet along
South Staples Street, beginning at the
North Line of Kathryn Carroll Addition or
approximately ninety feet north of the
intersection of Carroll Lane and extend-
ing northward 700 feet abutting South
Staples &treat in the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas,
be changed from present zoning for R -1, One - family Dwelling Dis-
trict use, to B-1 Neighborhood Business District use, and the same
is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 5. That the zoning of that tract of land described
as
West one -half of Block 1, Hughes Addition
to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning for R -2, Two -family Dwelling Dis-
trict use, to A -2, Second Apartment House District use, and the same
is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 6. That the zoning of that tract of land described
as 9.
Lot 8, Block 1, Jones Addition to the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
be changed from present zoning for A -2, Second Apartment House
District use, to B -3, Secondary Business District use, and the same
is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 7. That the official Zoning Map of the City of Corpus
Christi be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordained.
SECTION 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 9. That the said Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi, approved on the 4th day of May, 1948, as amend -
ad from time to time, except as herein changed shall remain in
full force and effect.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council,

SECTION 10. That the fact that it is of the greatest public
importance to put in force imediately the changes in the Zoning
Ordinance and Map as hereinbefore provided, for the purpose of pro-
viding for the orderly and progressive growth of the City, and the
necessary protection of the lives, health, property and welfare
of the citizens creates a public emergency and imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it
is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read
at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor,
having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, request-
ing that said Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance
be passed finally on the day it is introduced, and that this Or-
dinance take effect and be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and after its publication one time as is provided,
and required by the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, AND
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
