HomeMy WebLinkAbout02777 ORD - 05/16/1950IMSinger:gp 5/15/50 (5) AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING TEE WORK OF CONSTRUCTION AND ERECTION OF A WOOD AND MASONRY BUILDING IN LINDALE PARS AS PERMANENT PARK IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, BY SLOVAK. BROTHERS INC. AS AUTHORIZED BY ORDINANCE 110. 2626 DATED NOVEMBER 2, 1949, AND UNDER CONTRACT FOR SUCH IMPROVEMENTS BY AND BETNEEN THE CITY. AND SLOVAK BROTHERS.INC.; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the work of construction and erec- tion of a wood and masonry oommunity building in Lindale Park as permanent park improvements in the City of Corpus Christi, performed by Slovak Brothers, Inc. under its contract with the City and as authorised by Ordinance No. 2626 on November 2, 1949, having been performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract, plans, and specifications, and the Director of Public forks having inspected the same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance with said plans and specifications, and a letter to the City Manager from Richard S. Colley, Architect, concurring with the aforesaid ap- proval, having been submitted, the work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and is here and now accepted and reoeived.by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract mentioned and as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made a part hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works* dated May 9, 1950, in the sum of $7,343.63,be made in accordance with the terms of such ocntraot,and the ordinance authorising said contract and appropriation from Fund No. 295 Improvement Bonds 1948 Construction Fund (Park Improvements). SECTION 3. The necessity for completion of this project by such acceptance and by the approval of final pay - meet as aforesaid and as a part of the permanent park improve- 277% 2 Monts of the City of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and imperative necessity requiring the auspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolu- tion shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that said Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that it take effect and be in full force and effect from mud after its passage, IT IS, ACCORDINGLY, SO ORDAINED. This estimate has been prepared and checked in this office, and it is recommended that authority be obtained from the City Council for final p"nt for this praj in the amount of $7,343.63 from Park Improvement Bond Funds Mo and that the proper ordinances 'be prepared for accepting this . The construction of this building hag been completed in accordance with the plans and specifications, and we are attaching a letter from Mr. Richard S. Colley, Architect, stating that the work has been completed and recommending psymant therefor.
