HomeMy WebLinkAbout02785 ORD - 05/31/1950IMSinger:gp 5/25/5o(5) AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO EXECUTE A GRATUITOUS AGREEMENT FOR LOCATION AND INSTALLATION OF RADAR MUMUT ADJACENT TO THE WEATHER BUREAU BUTMG AT CLIFF MAUS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT ON GROUND SPACE OF APPROXTE= 4 7MTMTHWEST OF SAID BUILDING WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, DEPARTMENT OF CONMERCE, WEA RSA TO THE MUTUAL ADVANTAGE OF BOTH PART TOS`SAID AGREE_ MENT IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF TRACKING OF HURRICANES ; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION I. That the City Manager for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi be and he is hereby authorized and di- rected to execute a gratuitous agreement for location and w stallation of Radar Equipment adjacent to the Weather Bureau Building at Cliff Maus Municipal Airport on ground space of ap- proximately 400 square feet Southwest of said Building with the United States of America, Department of Commerce, Weather Bureau, to the mutual advantage of both parties to said agreement, said equipment to be used in the public service of tracking of hurri- canes; a copy of said agreement being attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION II. The importance of and the public benefit rendered by the tracting of hurricanes during hurricane season as a measure of protection for the City and its citizens, their lives and property, making it advantageous to the City to execute said agreement, create a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor having declared such emergency and imperative necessity to exist, requesting that said Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its intro- duction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED. a� �s PASSED M APPROVED, This the day of A.D. 1950.
