HomeMy WebLinkAbout02809 ORD - 07/06/1950"W Ugea' ;gp 6/7/3/50 (5) AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK ON WATER DIPROVEMENTS - TWO ELEVATED TANKS AND TOWERS - ONE ON GOLLIHAR ROAD, THE OTHER ON ALAMEDA, IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, FURNISHED AND INSTALLED BY CHICAGO BRIDGE AND IRON CCMPANY CF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, UNDER ITS CONTRACT FOR SAID IMPROVEMENTS WITH THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND DECLAR- ING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That the work of installation of two elevated tanks and towers - water improvements - one on Gollihar Road and the other on Alameda in the City of Corpus Christi, said tanks and towers furnished and installed by Chicago Bridge and Iron Company of Chicago, Illinois under its contract for said improvements with the City of Corpus Christi dated the 1 day of February , 1949 , having been performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisionsof said contract, and the plans and specifications therefor, and said work having been approved by Greeley and Hansen, Consulting Engineers, and the Director of Public Works having inspected the same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance with said plans and specifications and that said tanks and towers meet such plans and specifications, the work aforesaid is hereby found to have heen completed in accordance with the plans and specifications and by is here and now accepted and received /the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas. SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract men- tioned and as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made a part hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works, dated June 19, 1950, in the sum of $60,708.65 be made in accordance with the terms of such contract and from Not 298 City of Corpus Christi Water- works Construction Fund, as previous]y appropriated. SECTION 3. The necessity for completion of this project by such acceptance and by the approval of final payment as aforesaid creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of g--1Foq the City Council, and the Mayor. declaring that such emergency and necessity exist, having requested that such Charter rule be suspend- ed and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is intro- duced and that it take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
