APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY FOR
THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING
AUGUST 1,1950, AND ENDING JULY 31, 1951;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, At a special meeting of the City Council held
on the 25th day of July, 1950s and prior to the first regular met-
ing of the City Council in August, 1950, the City Council did, by
ordinance, accept, approve and adopt the Budget of the City of
Corpus Christi, for the fiscal year beginning August 1, 1950, and
ending July 31, 1951; and
WHEREAS, Upon adoption of the Budget, and pursuant to
Section 27, Article V, of the City Charter of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, the City Council must at once, by ordinance, approp-
riate such sums of money for each department as provided in the Budget
for the ensuing fiscal year from August 1, 1950, to July 31, 1951;
NaU, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, T a-&S:
SECTION 1. That on this, the 25th day of July, 1950,
and subsequent to and following the passage of the ordinance accept-
ing, approving and adopting the Budget of the City of Corpus Christi
for the fiscal year, beginning August 1, 1950, and ending July 31,
1951, certain sums of money be, and they are hereby appropriated to
cover the sums as provided for each of the several departments of
said City, as said sums do appear in the said Budget already approved
by ordinance by the said City Council of the City of Corpus Christi,
and said Budget being of record in t he archives of said City.
SECTION 2. The fact that the appropriation ordinance
must be immediately passed after the Budget is adopted, and must be
published once before becoming effective, creates a public emergency
and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance or
resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Coun-
cil, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency and
imperative public necessity exist, and having requested that such
Charter rule be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY
SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen-
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is.
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
