CLOSING ALL STREETS WITHIN THAT AREA BOUNDED
ON THE NORTH BY URIAH LOTT TRACT, BOUNDED ON
THE WEST BY SOUTH STAPLES STREET, BOUNDED ON
THE SOUTH BY DODDRIDGE STREET, AND BOUNDED ON
THE EAST BY SOUTH ALAMEDA STREET, AND ALL IN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, DISCLAIMING
AND RELINQUISHING ALL CLAIM TAD THE ABUTTING
PROPERTY OWNERS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi
has been petitioned that all of the streets in the area more particularly
described as follows, to wit:
That area bounded on the north by the Uriah
Lott tract, bounded on the west by South
Staples Street, bounded on the South by Dodd -
ridge Street, and bounded on the east by
South Alameda Street, and all in the City
of Corpus Christi
be closed for the purpose of replaating the said area in accordance with
a map plan presented to and now on file in the office of the Zoning and
Planning Commission of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, rededicating
and relocating the streets within said area for the public convenience
and benefit of the public; and
WHEREAS, notice of the proposed closing of said streets
has been given by publication and by mailing to the last known address
of all owners of property abutting said streets and within 450 feet there-
from, in accordance with the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, as
provided in Article II, Section 6 thereof; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Notice given as above
set out, a public hearing was held on the 18th day of July, 1950, in
the Council Chamber of the City'Hall in Corpus Christi, Texas, at 4:00
otclock p, m. by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi; and
WHEREAS, the public welfare, safety, convenience and
necessity would be better served by the closing of said streets;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:

SECTION 1. That all of the streets lying within the
area more particularly described as follows, to wit:
That area bounded on the north by the Uriah Lott
tract, bounded on the west by South Staples Street,
bounded on the south by Doddridge Street, and
bounded on the east by South Alameda Street, and
all in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas
be and the same is hereby closed and the dedication thereof is hereby
vacated and all interest of the City acquired by such dedication is hereby
released and relinquished to the abutting property owners.
SECTION 2. The fact that public convenience and necessity
will be better served by the closing of that certain portion of said
streets immediately creates a public necessity and emergency requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such
Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council; and the Mayor, having declared that such public emergency
and imperative necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter
rule be suspended and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date
of its introduction, and take effect and be in fullforce and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED..

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a .public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
