HomeMy WebLinkAbout02835 RES - 08/01/1950A RESOLUTION SETTING ASIDE AND DESIGNATING THAT CERTAIN PORTION OF THE ROADWAY ALONG THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE LAWRENCE STREET T -HEAD EXTEND- ING THREE HUNDRED FEET TO THE NORTH AND THREE HUNDRED FEET TO THE SOUTH OF THE CEN- TER LINE OF THE APPROACH TO SAID T -HEAD EX- TENDED AS PARK AREA; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, Certain portions of the Lawrence Street T- Head have heretofore been designated as park area to be improved, used, maintained, and controlled as part of the park and recrea- tion property of the City of Corpus Christi for the use of public; and WHEREAS, Certain other portions of the Lawrence Street T -Head as hereinafter described are suitable for park and recreation purposes, and WHEREAS, The plans as prepared and adopted provide for the abolition of a portion of the road along the Eastern side of Lawrence Street T -Head extending three hundred feet (3001) to the North and Throe Hundred Feet (3001) to the South of the center line of the approach to said T -Head extended and the use of said area for park purposes necessitate the designation ofthe same as park area; and WHEREAS, It is desirable to improve the same as park and recreation area and to use for such improvements such appro- priated funds available for permanent park improvements; NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That that portion of the road along the Eastern side of Lawrence Street T -aead extending three hundred feet (3001) to the North and three hundred feet (3009 to the South of the center line of the approach to said T -Head extended be and the same is hereby designated as park area to be improved, used, main- tained, and controlled as part of the park and recreation property 35 of the City of Corpus Christi for the use of the public. SECTION 2. The fact that the improvements herein mention- ed should be commenced as soon as practical on the areas herein designated as park and recreation areas, and that it is necessary, that such designation be made as a dedication of said property for the use of the public as park and recreati n areas creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the sus- pension of the Charter rule providing that no ordinance or reso- lution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, declaring such em- ergency and necessity to exist, requesting that said Charter rule be suspended and that this resolution be passed finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO RESOLVED. �q PASSED AND APPROVED, This the_Lft day of C(?"��rr 195o.
