HomeMy WebLinkAbout02848 ORD - 08/15/1950IMSiagertgp = 6/16/50 (5) AN ORDINANCE LAYING OUT AND ESTABLISHING NUECES BAY BOULEVARD FROM WEST BROADWAY TO NUECES BAY IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the present Nueces Bay Boulevard in the City of Corpus Christi is not one continuous street, but is stopped and blocked by various tracts of land; and, WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi is desirous of immediate- ly extending Nueces Bay Boulevard from West Broadway to Nueces Bay in order that same may be one continuous and uninterrupted street to its end on the Margin of Nusces Bay; and WHEREAS, the County of Nueces did on the 29th day of August 1949 quitclaim the land hereinbelow described to the City of Corpus Christi, which deed is of record in the deed records of Nusces County, Texas in Volume 444 pp 532-534; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That, in addition to the present Nueces Bay Boulevard, there is hereby laid out and established as a public street in the City of Corpus Christi to be a part and extension of the present Nueces Bay Boulevard and to be known and named Nusces Baby Boulevard that portion of the City of Corpus Christi which is described as follows: A strip of land 80 feet in width and 1391.55 feet in length lying and being situated in the County of Nueces, State of Texas, and in a westerly direction, about 2j miles from the Court House of said County, being the same tract of land conveyed to W. B. Hopkins, County Judge in and for Nueces County, Texas by G. R. Scott, deed dated September 27, 3,998 and recorded in Volume 4, page 623 of the Deed Records of said County. Said strip of land be. ing more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows, to —wits BEGINNING 40 feet N 59 deg. 24, W from the east corner of the P.W. Humphrey 100 acre tract for the West corner of this description; THENCE N 30 deg. 171 E 1386.22 feet to the margin of Nueces Bay for the north corner of this description; THENCE with the margin of said Baby N 86 deg. 27t E 96030 feet to a point for the east corner of this description; B � 12) — A THENCE S 30 deg. 179 W 1391.55 feet to a point for the south corner of this description; THENCE N 59 deg. 24' W 80 feet to the PLACE OF BEGINNING, containing 2.55 acres; SECTION 2. The fact that it is necessary to lay out and establish immediately the continuation of Nueces Bay Boulevard from West BrOadway to Nueces Bay in order that said Nueces Bay Boulevard might be continuous and uninterrupted, in order to al- leviate the heavy traffic on and over other streets in the immediate vicinity now over burdened with traffic and in order to provide access to the areas beyond the present end of Nueces Bay Boulevard, creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requir- ing the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolu- tion shall be passed final on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meet- ings of the City Council, and the Mayor, declaring such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested the suspension of such Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction, and take effect and be in full force and ef- fect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
