AN ORDINANCE
RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF CONSTRUCTION
OF PROCTOR STREET DRAINAGE CHANNEL AS A PERMA-
NENT DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS, BY SLOVAK BROTHERS AS AUTHORIZED
BY ORDINANCE NO. 2732 DATED MARCH 28, 1950, AND
UNDER CONTRACT FOR SUCH D4PRAVEMENTS BY AND BETWEEN
THE CITY AND SLOVAK BROTHERS; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the work of construction of Proctor Street
Drainage Channel am a permanent drainage improvement in the City of Corpus
Christi, performed by Slovak Brothers under its contract with the City
and as authorized by Ordinance No. 2732 on March 28, 1950, having been
performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions of
the contract, plans, and specifications, and the Director of Public Works
having inspected the same and certified to the completion of said work
in accordance with maid plane and specifications, the work aforesaid
is hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and
specifications and is here and now accepted and received by the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTICY 2. That final payment due under the contract
mentioned and as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made
a part hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works dated July 31 ,
1950, in the sum of $7,305.14 be made in accordance with the terms of
such contract and appropriation from Fund No. 296, Storm Drainage Im-
provements Bond Fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for completion of this project
by such acceptance and by the approval of final payment as aforesaid
and as a pert of the permanent drainage improvements of the City of Corpus
Christi creates a public emergency and imperative necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall L
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having

declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that said
Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on
the day it is introduced and that it take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter.

introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
