AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $71,160.00 TO BE PAID AS CONSIDERA- TION FOR THE FURNISHING OF ALL JAIL EQUIPMENT TO BE INCORPORATED IN THE NEW POLICE BUILDING TO BE CONSTRUCTED AT BROWNLEE AND BUFFALO IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SAID APPROPRIATION TO BE MADE OUT OF FUND NO 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (POLICE BUILDING) INSOFAR AS THE FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE AND THE BALANCE NOT TO EXCEED $8,500.00 OUT OF NO. 102 CURRENT FUND - CODE XG LAND AND BUILDINGS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, on the 6th dap of July, 1950, a contract was entered into between the City of Corpus Christi, Texas and the Southern Steel Corporation for the furnishing of all general equipment to be incorporated in the new police building, and which contract, documents, plans and specifications therefor are on file in the City Secretary's office and here referred to for all pertinent purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION L. That there is hereby appropriated the sum of $71,160.00 as the consideration to be paid for all jail equipment for the new Police Building, said appropriation to be made out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construc- tion Fund (Police Building) insofar as the funds are avail- able and the balance not to exceed $8,500.00 to be made out of No. 102 Current Fund - Contingencies - Code XG lend and Buildings, and accordingly there is hereby appropriated $62,660 out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Police Building) and $8,500 out of No. 102 Current Fund - Contingencies - Code SG Land and Buildings to be paid as the total consideration of $71,160.00 for said equipment and in- stallation thereof, in accordance with the aforementioned contract. SECTION 2. The contract for a new police building for the City of Corpus Christi having been awarded, it is now necessary to provide for jail equipment.to be installed in said building, so as to facilitate the completion of such police building for use and occupancy, all of whichcreates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that provides that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its in- troduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED, PASSED AND APPROVED, this the i !�dsy of August, 1950, D YOR Peo -TE CM OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS T T. City Secretary APPRO AS TO GAL FORM: City AttorneV Corpus Christi, Texas 1950 TO THE ITMERS OF THE, CITY COMICIL Corpus Christi, Texas Gentlemen: For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore- going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
