AN ORDINANCE
RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE 'WORK OF RESUR-
FACING 5.5 MILES OF STREETS COMPLETED BY
BROW AND ROOT, INC. IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CONTRACT BY AND BETWEEN SAID CORPORATION
AND THE CITY THEREFOR DATED JULY 18, 1950,
AS AUMBIZED BY ORDINANCE N0. 2822: AUTHOR-
IZING FINAL PAYMENT FROM FUNDS PREVIOUSLY
APPROPRIATdD OUT OF NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS
1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET IMPROVEMENTS)
IN ACCORDANCE WITH FINAL ESTIMATE ATTACHED
HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF COIF US CHRISTI, TE%ASt
SECTION 1. That the work of resurfacing 5.5 miles of
streets in the City of Corpus Christi performed by Brown and Boot,
Inc. under its contract with the City dated July 18, 1950, as
authorised by Ordinance No. 2822, having been performed and complet-
ed in accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract,
Plane and specifications, and the Director of Public Works having
inspected the same and certified to the completion of said work in
accordance with said plans and specifications and contract docu..
meats, the work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed
in accordance with such contract, plane and specifications, and
is here and now accepted and received by the City Council of the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That the final payment due under the con-
tract mentioned in Section 1 hereof and as set out in the final
estimate attached hereto and made a part hereof, prepared by the
Director of Public Works dated Angust 23 , 1950, in the sum of
$64,084.21 be made as previously authorised and appropriated from
Fund No, 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Dm.
Provements).
SECTION 3. The necessity for completion of this pro,.
ject by such acceptance and final p4rmeut creates a public emer,
gency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of
the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City
Council, and the Mayor, having declared that supk-'emergeney and
necessity exist, requesting that said Charter rule be suspended
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is intro"
duced and that it take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY 30 ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
