AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACQUIRE, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, 3.68 ACRES AT SOUTHEAST
CORNER OF DODDRIDGE AND SOUTH STAPLES FROM
GUARANTY TITLE AND TRUST COMPANY, A CTING
FOR JACK POPE, INDEPENDENT EXECUTOR OF THE
ESTATE OF W. E. POPE, DECEASED FOR THE SUM
OF $7,500.00 PLUS TITLE EXPENSE; AUTHORIZING
AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO MLLE
SUCH PURCHASE AND EXECUTE THE NECESSARY IN-
STRUWMS IN CONNECTION HEREWITH; PROVIDING
THAT THE CONSIDERATION FOR SAID PROPERTY BE
PAID FROM N0. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950
CONSTRUCTION FUND (FIRE STATION); AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRMI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed for and on behalf of the City to acquire a 3.68 acre tract
for the site for the erection of a fire station, more particularly
described as follows, to -wit:
A tract of land out of the west corner of a 280.574 acre
tract of land out of Subdivision D of the W. E. Pope Resubdi-
vision of Port Aransas Cliffs and Paisleys Subdivision
of the Hoffman Tract as recorded in Volume 4, page 57
of the Map Records of Nueces County, Texas, said tract
of land being more particularly described by metes and
bounds as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the centerline of South
Staples Street and the centerline of Doddridge Street
for the most westerly corner ofthis tract;
Thence N 58 0 52' 40" E with the centerline of Doddridge
Street a distance of 295.07 feet to a point, the point
of curve of a circular curve to the right having a radius of
200 feet and a central angle of 590 171 300;
Thence along said eurve to the right a distance of 206.97
feet to the point of tangent to said curve;
Thence S 610 491 50" E a distance of 96.07 feet to its inter-
section with the northeasterly extension of the centerline
of Weber Road for the most easterly corner of this tract;
Thence S 280 101 10" W with the northeasterly extension of the
center line of Weber Road a distance of 600.00 feet to its
intersection with the center line of South Staples Street
for the most southerly corner of this tract;

Thence N 31 091 20" W with the centerline of South Staples
Street a distance of 486.20 feet to the place of beginning.
Containing 3.68 acres of land of which 0.84 acres are existing
streets
sketches of which are attached hereto and made a part hereof, from Guaranty
Title and Trust Compazq, acting for Jack Pope, Independent Executor of the
Estate of W. E. Pope, deceased.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to acquire said land and tp execute the necessary instruments
incident to said acquisition of such from the owner thereof.
SECTION 3. That the purchase price of $7,500, for the proper-
ty described in Section 1 hereof, plus title expenses is hereby appro-
priated from No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Fire
Station Construction).
SECTION 4. The fact there is available for such purchase
money from the bond issues heretofore voted for the construction of
said Fire Station and it is necessary to purchase a location as the
site for said Fire Station Construction creates a public emergency and
an imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the 6harter
rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be
read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor,
having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, having requested
said Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finlly
on the day it is introduced and that it take effect and be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set Forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension or the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and Foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of Fund No, No. 296 ImprovemenLB=as
1950 Construction Fund (Fire Station Construction
from which it is proposed to be drawn,
and such money is not appropriated for any other purpose.
