AN ORDINANCE
APPROPRIATING THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND TWO
HUNDRED- DOLLARS ($35,200) FROM THE UN-
APPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE OF THE WATER
DEPARTMENT TO THE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM -
CONSTRUCTION DIVISION CODE XM FOR WATER
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 234 (GARDENDALE)
COVERING INSTALLATION AND MATERIALS (AN
8" LINE ON BONNER DRIVE, WITH FOUR 6"
CROSS TIES AT BURTON, BETTY JEAN, NELSON,
AND EVERHART) OF CONNECTING UP THE EASE-
MENT LINES FOR SAID PROJECT; AUTHORIZ-
ING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORM TO PRO-
CEED WITH SUCH IMPROVEMENTS, SUCH WORK
TO BE DONE BY CITY FORCES; AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY,
WHEREAS, There is $352200 needed for Water Improve.
ment Project No. 234 (Gardendale) as hereinafter more fully
described; and
WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available for
use of such Project; and
WHEREAS, It is contemplated that said work will be
done by City Forces:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY mHg CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION I. There is hereby appropriated Thirty -five
Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($35,200) from the unappropriated fund
balance of the Water Department to the Distribution System -Con-
struction Division Code IM for Water Improvement Project No. 234
(Gardendals) covering installation and materials (An 8" line on
Bonner Drive, with four 61, cross ties at Burton, Betty Jean,
Nelson, and Everhart) of connecting up the easement lines for
said project and including engineering and contingencies in ac-
cordance with the Estimates of Cost of said installation and materials
for said Water Project No. 234, such estimates being made a part
hereof and attached hereto.
SECTION II. The Director of Public Worirs of the

City of Corpus Christi is hereby directed to proceed with the
said project described heretofore with the work to be done by
City Forces.
SECTION III. The fact that it is necessary to make
said appropriation as above set out in order to proceed with said
Water improvement project and that such project will provide neces-
sary facilities to protect the health and general welfare of the
residents of the certain portions of the City of Corpus Christi
and is of great public benefit creates a public emergency and an
imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the
Charter rule that.no ordinance or resolution shall be passed
finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordinance
or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, requesting that said Charter rate be suspend-
ed and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is
introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of Nos 141 and 142 Water Fund —
Operations and Construction
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.
