ORDERING AN ELECTION WITHIN THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING WHETHER
OR NOT THE TERRITORY DESCRIBED HEREIN, COMPRIS-
ING TKO SEPARATE AREAS, SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; DEFINING SAID TERRITORY
TO BE ANNEXED PURSUANT TO SUCH ELECTION; DESIG-
NATING THE POLLING PLACES FOR HOLDING SUCH EL-
ECTION IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, AND NAMING
THE OFFICIALS THEREFOR; PRESCRIBING F(R M OF
NOTICE OF ELECTION; ENACTING PROVISIONS INCIDENT
AND RELATING TO THE PURPOSE OF THIS ORDINANCE;
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of September, 1950, there was sub-
mitted to the City Couhcil.oi the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, the
recommendation of the Zoning and Planning Hoard of the City that the
question of annexation of certain territory, said territory being
that territory lying between the present City Limits line, which is
180 feet southwest of the centerline of Gollihar Road and Holley
Street and Holley Streets southeasterly extension, and between Chapman,
Ranch Road and Weber Road, extending 180 feet southwest of the center-
line of Chapman Ranch Road and 180 feet southeast of the centerline of
debar Road, and also including an 80 acre tract consisting of Southland
Estates and Moravian Village, lying adjacent to and northwest of
Kostoryz Road and adjacent to and southwest of Holley Street and an
area in Corpus Christi and Nueces Bays, be submitted to the qualified
voters of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of September, 1950, there was submitted
to the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, the recommenda-
tion of the Zoning and Planning Board of said City that the question of
annexation of certain territory, such territory being fully described
in said recommendation, and being that territory comprising the area
hereinabove described, be submitted to the qualified voters of the City
of Corpus Christi, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has accepted both of said recommenda-
tions, and has determined that each of said recommendations conforms to
and meets the requirements of the provision of Section 2 of Article I of
the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, as amended; and,

WHEREAS, the descriptions as contained in each of said
recommendations are sufficiently and fully set out, and both of
said territories are found to be adjoining the City Limits of the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed desirable by the City Council that
one election be called at which the questions as to the annexation
of each of said territories can be voted upon by the qualified
voters of the City of Corpus Christi.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That an election be held on the 21st day
of October, 1950, within the City of Corpus Christi for the pur-
pose of submitting to the qualified voters of said City the
question of whether or not certain territory should be annexed to
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, such territory being fully
described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the present City
Limits line, said point being on the south
edge of the south abutment of the draw
span of the Nueces Bay Causeway on State
Highway No. 16.;
Thence due east with the present City
Limits line parallel to the original north-
ern City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H.
v.Blucher in August, 1883, to its intersec-
tion with the original east City Limits line
extended;
Thence south with the present City Limits
line to the southeast corner of the original
City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H. v.
Vlucher in August, 1883;
Thence in a southeasterly direction to a
point that is due north one mile from the
most easterly point of the west shoreline
of Oso Creek at mean low tide;
Thence south with the present City Limits
line one mile to the most easterly point of
the west shoreline of Oso Creek at mean low
tide, same being the intersection of the west
shoreline of Oso Creek and the westerly shore -
ling of Corpus Christi Bay;
Thence in a southeasterly direction with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay to its inter-
section with the southeast line of State
Lease No. 78;
Thence northeasterly with the southeast line of
State Leases Nos. 78, 67, 66, 51, 5o, 33, 475,
450, 4147, 420 and 417 to the northeast corner of
State Lease No. 417;
Thence northwest along the northeast line of State
Lease No. 417 to its intersection with the shoreline
of Corpus Christi Bay;
Thence northwesterly, along and with the shoreline
of Corpus Christi Bay to the most northerly corner
of State Lease No. 12;
Thence southeast with the northeast line of State
Lease No. 12 to its most easterly corner;
Thence southwest on a direct line to the most east-
erly corner of State Lease No. 41;
Thence northwest along the northeast line of State
Lease No. 41 to its intersection with the shoreline
of Corpus Christi Bay;:
Thence southwesterly, westerly, northwesterly, along
and with the shoreline of Corpus Christi and Nueces
Bays to its intersection with the southeast corner of
State Survey No. 7531 .
Thence north with the east lines of State Surveys Nos.
753 and 751 to the shoreline of Nueces Bay;.
Thence in a westerly direction with the shoreline of
Nueces Bay to the northeast corner of State Survey
No. 686;
Thence south with the east line of State Survey No.
686 to the southeast corner of said survey;
Thence west along the south line of State Survey No.
686 to a point being a northward extension of the
east line of State Survey No. 939;
Thence south„ crossing State Survey No. 688, with
the northward extension of State Survey No. 939, and
continuing on with the east line of State Survey No.
939 to its intersection with the north line of the
Nueces County Navigation District lands;
Thence east with the north boundary line of the Navi-
gation District lands to the southeast corner of State
Survey No. 708;
Thence south with the extension of the east line of
State Survey No. 708 to its intersection with a north-
easterly projection of the east boundary line of the
Tex -Mex Cement Company 44.494 acre tract;
Thence inoa'sbutherly direction with the east boundary
line and its northeasterly project of the said 44.494
acre tract, continuing on said course to intersection
with the present City Limits line of the City of Corpus
Christi, same being the original northern City Limits
line as surveyed by C.F.H. v.Blucher in August, 1883;
Thence east with the original and present northern City
Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H. v.Blucher in August,
1883, to its intersection with the centerline of Avenue
F, extended, of Brooklyn Subdivision
Thence in a northeasterly direction with the
present City Limits line, same being the center-
line of Avenue F crossing the southern shoreline
of Nueces Bay and continuing along said centerline
extended to a point which bears north 320 East
700 feet from the centerline of 34th Street, Brook-
lyn Subdivision;
Thence in a southeasterly direction with the present
City Limits line to a point on the south edge of
the south abutment of the draw span of the Nueces
Bay Causeway on State Highway No. 16 and the place
of beginning.
Beginning at a point 180 feet northwest of the inter-
section of the centerline of Ayers Street and the
present City Limits line, same being 180 feet south
of the centerline of Gollihar Road;
Thence southwest parallel to and 180 feet northwest
of the centerline of Ayers Street to a point in the
northeast line of lot 3, Section 49 Bohemian Colony
Lands;
Thence southeast, crossing Ayers Street at right
angles, continuing on with the northeast line of
Lot 6, Section 3, Bohemian Colony Lands to the most
northern corner of Southland Estates Subdivision,
Thence southwest to the most westerly corner of South-
land Estates Subdivision;
Thence southeast along the southwest line of Southland
Estates Subdivision and the Moravian Village Subdivision
and its southeasterly extension to a point 180 feet
southeast of the centerline of Kostoryz Road;
Thence northeast with a line 180 feet southeast of and
parallel to the centerline of Kostoryz Road to a point
in the northeast line of lot 6, Section 2, Bohemian
Colozy Lams, said point being 180 feet southeast of
the centerline of Kostoryz Road;
Thence southeast along the northeast lines of lots 6
and 3, Section 2, Bohemian Colon Lands crossing
Weber Road at right angles and continuing on to a
point 100 feet southeast of the centerline of Weber
Road;
Thence northeast parallel to and 180 feet southeast
of the centerline of Weber Road to its intersection
with the present City Limits line of the City of
Corpus Christi;
Thence in a northwesterly direction with the present
City Limits line to a point in the present City Limits
line that is 15 feet northwest of the centerline of
Kostoryz Road;
Thence South 280 32' 15" West a distance of 2,455.61
feet with a line that is 15 feet northwest of and paral-
leljto the centerline of Kostoryz Road to a point;
Thence North 610 27' 15" Whist 1306.5 feet to a pointy
same being the southwest boundary line of Southside
No. 4 Subdivision of the City of Corpus Christi;
Thence North 280 41' East 1317.18 feet to a point,
being the northwest boundary line of Southside No. 4
Subdivision;
Thence North 280 21' East 324.13 feet, being the
northwest boundary line of Southaide No. 4 Sub-
division;
Thence South 62 23' 30" East a distance of 1300
feet along the northeast boundary line of Southside
No. 4 Subdivision to a point in Kostoryz Road;
Thence North 280 32' 15" East 815.7 feet with a
line that is 20 feet northwest of and parallel to
the centerline of Kostorys Road to a point in the
present City Limits line;
Thence in a northwesterly direction with the present
City Limits line to its intersection with the south-
east boundary line of lot 28, Block 3, Rosemary Place
Subdivision;
Thence South 280 10' West with the southeast boundary

the two territories hereinabove described include and are exactly the
same territories, and each includes the same property, which are
described and set out in the recommendations of the Zoning and Planning
Board of the City of Corpus Christi as above mentioned and here re-
ferred to.
SECTION 2. That said election shall be held within the City
of Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas, as aforesaid, and the polling
places and presiding officers and clerks shall be as follows:

SECTION 3. Such election shall be held in conformity
with the general laws of the State, and with the provisions of
the Charter of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, regulating
elections for submitting questions to the qualified voters of
the City. The polls shall be open from 7:00 A. M. to 7:00 P. M.
on the date heretofore set for the election.
SECTION Q. All qualified voters who reside within
the City of Corpus Christi may vote in such election.
The question of annexation of that territory herein
first described in Section 1 hereof shall be stated on the
ballot as follows:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
$'SHALL THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY ORDINANCE,
ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY
GENERALLY DESCRIBED AS BEING THAT TERRITORY LYING
BETWEEN THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS LINE, WHICH IS
180 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF GOLLIHAR
ROAD AND ROM STREET AND HOLLEY STREET'S SOUTH-
EASTERLY EXTENSION, AND BETWEEN CHAPMAN RANCH ROAD,
AND WEBER ROAD, EXTENDING 180 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE
CENTERLINE OF CHAPMAN RANCH ROAD AND 180 FEET SOUTH-
- -- -EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF WEBER. ROAD, AND ALSO IN-
CLUDING AN 80 ACRE TRACT CONSISTING OF SOUTHLAND

with the present City Limits line;
Thence in a northwesterly direction with the present
City Limits line crossing Ayers Street to the place
of beginning.
All voters who favor the annexation of the territory as
herein described in Section 1 hereof, and as generally provided in
Proposition No. 1, shall have written or printed on their ballots the
following words.;
"PROPOSITION NO. 1
FOR THE ANNEXATION OF SUCH ADDITIONAL TERRITORY"
and those opposed to the annexation of the territory hereinbefore
first described in Section 1 hereof, and as generally provided in
Proposition No. 1 shall have written or printed on their ballots the
following words:
"'PROPOSITION NO. 1
AGAINST ANNEXATION OF SUCH ADDITIONAL TERRITORY"
SECTION 5. If at said election a majority of the
duly qualified voters who reside within the City of Corpus
Christi shall vote in favor of the annexation to the City
of Corpus Christi of the territory to the City of Corpus
Christi of the territory herein first described in Section
1 hereof, and as generally provided in Proposition No. 1,
the City Council, shall, by Ordinance, annex and receive
such territory as a part of said City, and thereafter such
territory so annexed and received shall be a part of the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas
SECTION 6. A copy of this Ordinance, signed by the
Mayor of the City of Corpus Christi, and attested to by
the City Secretary of the City, shall serve as proper notice
of the said election, and the Mayor is directed to cause
notice of the election to be posted at each polling place
within the City, and at the City Hall and at the Courthouse
door, for V �� days prior to the date of election; and further
to order a copy of this notice to be published in the Corpus
Christi Times, the official newspaper of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, for three consecutiveweeks preceding the date
of the holding of the election, the first publication to be
not less than twenty (20) days prior to the date of said
election.
SECTION 7. The fact that the territories herein -
before described, each of them, and both of them, do not now
have the advantages of City Police and fire protection, the
City sanitary sewer system, and the protection of the City
Zoning Ordinance, and the citizens within each area, and both
of said territories need said various protections and ad-
vantages, creates a public emergency and public imperative
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that
no Ordinance shall be passed,final]y on the date it is intro-
duced and that such Ordinance or Resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor
having declared that such public emergency and imperative
necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule
be suspended, and that this ordinance be passed finally on
the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORHINGLY
ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
