Qiu6nr:vN 10/2/50 (5) AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $52,072.00 TO BE PAID AS CON- SIDERATION MR THE INSTALLATION OF AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE NEW CITY HALL BUILDING ON SHORE- US CHRISTI, TEXAS, OUT OF-FUND N0. 296 ImpRam ENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (CITY HALL BUILDING , AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING TEE CITY MANAGER FOR AND ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH NELSON ELECTRIC COMPANY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, L09 BIDDER, F R SUCH INSTALLATION; SAID CONTRACTS, PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS BEING MADE A PART HEREOF BY REFERENCE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. ITEEREAC, the':inatallation of an electrical system in the new City Hall Building has been determined to be necessary, and WHEREAS, There is needed the sum of $52,072.00 for the installation of such electrical system, and WHEREAS, There is available in Fund No. 296 Improve- ment Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (City Hall Building) said amount needed for such installation; and WHEREAS, Bids have been received, considered, and an award made for the most advantageous bid to the City of Corpus Christi, and it is now necessary to make such appropriation and to authorize the execution of a contract in accordance with said award; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That there is hereby appropriated out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (City Hall Building) the sum of $52,072.00, which amount is to be paid according to the terms of the contract described in Section 2 hereof. SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the City of Corpus Christi a contract for installation of an electrical system in the new City Hall Building on Shoreline Boulevard in Corpus Christi, Texas, UN VII VC. >- with Nelson Electric Company, which contract has been awarded said Nelson Electric Company in accordance with plans and specifications and the contract documents on file in the office of the City Secretary, all incorporated herein and made a part hereof by reference, and according to the bid of Nelson Electric Company, opened on the 19th day of September, A. D. 1950, said bid being the most advantageous, and lowest, to the City of Corpus Christi. SECTION 3. The need to appropriate said amount and to authorize the execution of said contract in order to facilitate the completion of the new City Hall, said contract being in conjunction with other contracts on said City Hall, creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed and approved finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordi- nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such emergency and necessity to exist, requesting the suspension of said Charter rule, and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is intro- duced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
