HomeMy WebLinkAbout02899 ORD - 10/03/1950AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING MONEY FROM FUND NO. 296 IMPROVEMENT BONDS 1950 CONSTRUCTION FUND (STREET TRAFFIC CON- TROL SYSTEM) TO COVER THE COST OF MATERIALS AND INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL LIGHT SYSTEM AT SHELL ROAD AND HIGHWAY 9, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500.00; SAID WORK TO BE PERFORMED BY CITY FORCES; AND DE- CLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, there is needed $1,500.00 for traffic signal lights at the intersection of Shell Road and Highway 9; and WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available for such appropriation in Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control System); and WHEREAS, said work is to be performed by City forces; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated out of Fund No. 296 Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Street Traffic Control System) the amount of $1,500.00 to cover the cost of materials and installation of the above - mentioned traffic signal lights at the intersection of Shell Road and Highway 9, said work of installation to be performed by City forces. SECTION 2. The Director of Public Works is directed and authorized to proceed with the aforesaid work in accordance with Section 1 hereof. SECTION 3. The necessity for the installation 'of, traffic signal lights at the intersection of Shell Road and Highway 9 to pro- tect the safety and general welfare of its citizenry creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, de- claring such emergency and necessity to exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the day MZ it is introduced and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
