HomeMy WebLinkAbout02900 ORD - 10/03/19501mau�ger:SY __ 10/3/50 (5) V A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL THAT THE PROCEEDS, IF ANY, MUVED FROM THE LEASE OF THE CLIFF MAUS.AIRPORT BE USED.FOR. AIRPORT PURPOSES UNTIL ALL REASONABLE NEEDS FOR DEVELOPMENT HAVE BEEN MET AND, THEREAFTER, USED AS MAY BE DETF:MUM BY THE CITY.COUNCIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR AUTHOR- ITY TO THEM DESIGNATE THE PROPER USE OF SUCH FUNDS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, The City Council, by Ordinance No. 2880, has duly authorized the execution of an oil, gas and mineral lease concerning the lands known as Cliff Maus Municipal Airport and more fully described in said lease; and WHEREAS, It is contemplated that the exploration and development under said lease may result in the realization of proceeds payable to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and WHEREAS, Such proceeds, if any, will be needed for the development of a municipal airport, NOW, THEREFO_HE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That it is hereby declared the policy of.the City Council that all proceeds from the lease for oil and gas exploration, development and production heretofore authorized by Ordinance No. 2880 to Jack Modessett and Burdette Graham, also known as B. C. Graham, a partnersh$p, doing business as Nuevs Oil Company, Lessee, be used exclusively for airport purposes until such time as it shall be determined by the City Council that all reasonable needs for airport development have been fully met, and, thereafter, used as may be determined by said City Council in accordance with their authority to then designate the proper use of such funds. SECTION 2. That the request of the Civil Aeronautics Administration for designation of the use of proceeds which may be derived from said oil and gas lease be used for airport pur- poses and the fact that said exploration and development is ex- pected to commence prrompt]y create an emergency and an impera- tive public necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter a 29Ov `e I rule that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date of its introduction and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such public emergency and necessity to exist, having requested that such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date of its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS SO RESOLVED.
