CLOSING THE EAST FIFTEEN FEET AND THE WEST
FIFTEEN FEET OF ARANSAS STREET EXTENDING
BETWEEN THE NORTH LINE OF PROCTOR STREET
AND THE SOUTH LINE OF RAPES STREET BETWEEN
BLACKS 116 AND 216 OF PORT ARANSAS CLIFFS
ADDITION; CLOSING THE EAST FIFTEEN FEET AND
THE WEST FIFTEEN FEET OF DENVER STREET BE-
TWEEN THE NORTH LINE OF.PRACTOR STREET AND
THE SOUTH LINE OF ROPES STREET BETWEEN BLOCKS
16 AND 116 OF PORT ARANSAS CLIFFS ADDITION,
ALL IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS;
THEREBY REDUCING THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OF SAID
ARANSAS AND DENVER STREETS FROM THEIR PRESENT
WIDTH OF 80 FEET TO A WIDTH OF 50 FEET; AND
ORDERING AND DIRECTING THE RETURN OF SUCH
PROPERTY HEREBY CLOSED TO THE ABUTTING
PROPERTY OWNERS; AND DECLARING AN ENERGENCY-
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi
has been petitioned that a portion of Denver and Aransas Streets
hereinafter described be closed for street purposes; and
WHEREAS, Notice of the proposed closing of said portions
of said streets has been given by publication and by mail to the
last known address to all owners of property abutting said street
and within 450 feet therefrom in accordance with the Charter of
the City of Corpus Christi as provided for under Article 11, Sec-
tion 6 thereof; and
WHEREAS, In accordance with the Notice given as above
set out, a public hearing was held by the City Council of the City
of Corpus Christi at 4:00 o'clock P.M. on the 26th day of September,
1950, in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall in the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The public welfare, convenience and necessity
will be better served by the closing of such street:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXASt
SECTION 1. That a portion of Aransas Street extending
between the North line of Probtor Street and the South line of
Ropes Street described as follow, to -a:it:
The East fifteen feet and the west fif-
teen feet of Aransas Street extending be-

tween the North line of Proctor Street
and the South line of Ropes Street be-
tween Blocks 116 and 216 of Port Aransas
Cliffs Addition to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, thereby reducing the right-of-way
of said Aransas Street in said ]i.mits from
its present width of 80 feet to a width of
50 feet,
be and the same is hereby closed as a public street and from public
use.
SECTION 2. That a portion of Demrer Street extending
between the North line of Proctor Street and the South line of
Ropes Street described as follows, to -wit:
The East fifteen feet and the West fif-
teen feet of Denver Street extending between
the North line of Proctor Street and the
South line of Ropes Street between Blocks
16 and 116 of Port Aransas Cliffs Addition
to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, there-
by reducing the right-of-way of said Denver-
Street in said limits from its present width
of 80 feet to a width of 50 feet,
be and the same is hereby closed as a public street and from public
use.
SECTION 3. That the City of Corpus Christi hereby quit-
claims and relinquishes all right, title and interest it may have
in and to said portions of said streets described in Sections 1 and
2 hereof, to the owners of property abutting said streets.
SECTION 4. The fact that public convenience and neces-
sity will be better served by the closing of said streets creates
a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordi-
nance and resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, haying declared such emergency and
necessity to exist, requesting the suspension of said Charter Bole
and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date it is intro-
duced and that it take effect and be in full force and effect from

and after its passage, IT LS ACCORDINGLY SO OMAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set,forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at .three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
