AN ORDINANCE
RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORI. OF CONSTRUCTION OF
STORM DRAINAGE IIAPP.OVEL04TS ALONG THE FOLLOGVING STREETS:
ROSSITER, FROM OCEAN DRIVE TO BAY; LAVVNVIEW .FROIJ.
LOUISIANA TO BREEZEWAY; ALAT�MA, FROM LOUISIANA TO
TEXAS; HIGBLAND, FROM HAR &ION TO SABIKAS TO MORGAN,
RUTH, FROM HARIION TO ELEANOR; AND LOU, 'FROM OSAGE TO
PUEBLO IN TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SAI -E,
BEING THE CONSTRUCTION AUTHORIZED IN ORDINANCE NO.
2788 AND UNDER CONTRACT DATED JUNE 8, 1950, BETWEEN
TIM CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND T. H. LEE, CONTRACTOR,
AIM AUTHORIZING FINAL PAY110I T TO SAID T. H. LEE IN
ACCORDANCE "11ITH THE FINAL ESTI!1ATE DATED OCTOBER 11,
1950, IN THE Allo_OUNT OF $22,960.86, A COPY OF WHICH
FINAL ESTIlaTE IS A'TTACILD HERETO AIM IIME A PART
HEREOF, JQFM DECLARING AN ElfERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEMS:
SECTION 1. That the work of construction of Storm
Drainage Improvements along the following streets; Rossiter, from
Ocean Drive to Bay; Lawnview, from Louisiana to Breezeway; Alameda,
from Louisiana to Texas; Highland, from Harmon to Sabinas to liorgan;
Ruth, from Harmon to Eleanor; and Lou, from Osage to Pueblo in the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas, performed by T. H. Lee, having been
performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions
of the contract and the plans and specifications therein contained,
said contract having been entered into by and between the City and
T. H. Lee on the 8th day of June, 1950, as authorized in Ordinance
No. 2788, and the Director of Public (forks having inspected the
same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance with
said plans and specifications, and said work aforesaid is hereby
found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and specifi-
cations and is herenow accepted and received by the City Council of
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract and
as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made a part
hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works dated October 11,
1950, in the sum of Twenty two Thousand Nine Hundred and Sixty Dollars
and Eighty -six Cents ($22,960.86) be made in accordance with the

terms of such contract and that such payment be made from No. 296
Improvement Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvement),
as previously authorized to be paid from said fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for maintaining adequate storm
drainage sewers in order to protect the health and general welfare
of the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi and to complete said
project by such acceptance and final payment creates a public
emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of that certain Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordi-
nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and
necessity exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is introduced
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemens
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a Public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at .three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council,
