RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF CONSTRUCTION
OF STORM SEWER IMPROVEMENTS IN LOUISIANA,AVENVE
FROM ALAIEDA TO STAPLES STREETS IN THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, SAM BEING THE CONSTRUC-
TION AUTHORIZED IN ORDINANCE NO. 2725 AND UNDER
CONTRACT DATED MARCH 24, 1950, BETWEEN THE CITY
OF CORPUS ,CHRISTI AND HELDENFELS BROTHERS, AND
AUTHORIZING FINAL PAYIMNT TO SAID BELDENFELS
BROTHERS.IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE.FINAL_ESTIAATE
DATED OCTOBER 11,.1950, IN THE AMOUNT OF.819,656.10,
A COPY OF'WHICH FINAL ESTIMkTE IS ATTACHED HERETO
AND M&DE A PART HEREOF, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the work of construction of Storm Sewer
Improvements in Louisiana Avenue from Alameda to Staples Streets in
the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, performed by Heldenfels Brothers,
having been performed and completed in accordance with the terms
and provisions of the contract and the plans and specifications there-
in contained, said contract having been entered into by and between
the City and Heldenfels Brothers on the 24th day of March, 1950,
as authorized in Ordinanoe No. 2725, and the Director of Public
Works having inspected the same and certified to the completion of
said work in accordance with said plans and specifications, and
said work aforesaid is hereby found to have been completed in
accordance with the plans and specifications and is herenow accepted
and received by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract and
as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made a part
hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works dated October 11,
1950, in the sum of Ninteen Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty -six Dollars
and Ten Cents 019,656.10) be made in accordance with the terms of
such contract and that such payment be made from PTo. 296 Improvement
Bonds 1950 Construction Fund (Storm Sewer Improvements), as previously
authorized to be paid from said fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for maintaining adequate storm
drainage sewers in order to protect the health and general welfare

of the citizens of the City of Corpus Christi and to complete said
project by such acceptance and final payment creates a public
emergency and imperative public necessity requiring the suspension
of that certain Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such ordi-
nance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such emergency and
necessity exist, requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and
that this ordinance be passed finally on the day it is introduced
and take effect and be in full force and effect from and after its
passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
