AN ORDINANCE
RECMING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF CONSTRUC-
TION OF A TND -UNIT ADDITION TO THE CALALLEN
FILTRATION PLANT, SaTE,BEING THE CONSTRUCTION
AUTHORIZED IN ORDINANCE.NO. 2355 AND UNDER.
CONTRACT DATED SEPTEMBER 11, 1948, BETWEEN
THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI AND TELLEPSEN
CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, AND AUTHORIZING FINAL
PAYMENT TO SAID TELLEPSEN CONSTRUCTION._
COMPANY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE,FI14AL ESTI-
MATE DATED SEPTEMBER 30,.1950, IN THE AMOUNT
of $67,330.26, A COPY OF WHICH FINAL ESTn TE
IS ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF,
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the work of construction of a two -unit
addition to the Calallen Filtration Plant performed by Tellepsen
Construction Company, having been performed and completed in
accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract and the
plans and specifications therein contained, said contract having
been entered into by and between the City and Tellepsen Construction
Company on the 11th day of September, 1948, as authorized in Ordi-
nance No. 2355, and the Director of Public Works having inspected
the same and certified to the completion of said work in accordance
with said plans and specifications, and said work aforesaid is
hereby found to have been completed in accordance with the plans and
specifications and is herenow accepted and received by the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
SECTION 2. That final payment due under the contract and
as set out in the final estimate attached hereto and made a part
hereof, prepared by the Director of Public Works dated September 30,
1950, in the sum of Sixty -seven Thousand Three Hundred and Thirty
Dollars and Twenty -six Cents ($67,330.26) be made in accordance with
the terms of such contract and that such payment be made from
No. 298 City of Corpus Christi Waterworks Construction Fund, as
previously authorized to be paid from said fund.
SECTION 3. The necessity for maintaining adequate
waterworks facilities for the benefit of the citizens of the City of

Corpus Christi and to complete said project by such acceptance
and final payment creates a public emergency and imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of that certain Charter rule
that no ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the
date it is introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall
be read at three several meetings of the City Council, and the
Mayor, having declared that such emergency and necessity exist,
requesting that such Charter rule be suspended and that this
Ordinance be passed finally on the day it is introduced and tales
effect and be in full force and effect from and after its passage,
IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAINED.
PASSED AND APPROVED, This the 1'1 day of October, 1950.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a .public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
