AN ORDINANCE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 760, XNOWN AS THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ADOPTED
ON THE 27TH DAY OF AUGUST, 1937, AND APPEARING OF
RECORD IN VOLUME 9, PAGES 565 ET SEQ OF THE ORDI-
NANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, AS AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME.THEREAFTER,
AND IN PARTICULAR AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 2266,
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI ON THE 4TH DAY OF MAY, 1948, AND
APPEARING OF RECORD IN VOLUME 16, PAGES 339 ET SEQ
OF THE ORDINANCE AND RESOLUTION RECORDS OF THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI BY AMENDING THE ZONING MAP APPROV-
ED BY THE CITY COUNCIL ON MAY 4, 1948, BY CHANGING
THE PRESENT ZONING OF LOTS 22, 23, and 24, BLOCS 5,
TRACY ADDITION, FOR R-2, TWO FAMILY DWEIJrNG DISTRICT
USE, AND To PRESENT ZONING OF LOT 21, BLOCS 5, TRACY
ADDITION, FOR R-1, ONE FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT USE,
TO B-1 NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT USE, ALL IN THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; SEEPING IN EFFECT ALL
OTHER PROVISIONS OF THE EXISTING ORDINANCES AS AMEND-
ED; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY#
WHEREAS, The Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of
Corpus Christi, Texas, has recommended to the City Council of said
City that it is advisable to make the hereinafter set out changes
in the present Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas; and
WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi
at its regular meeting held on the 23rd day of May, 1950, ordered
a Public Hearing to be held on the 15th day of June, A.D. 1950,
at 2:00 P.M, in the City Council Chamber at the City Hall in the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas; and
WHEREAS, The City Council did on the 15th day of June,
1950, hold such hearing, where all interested citizens, property
owners, and other parties had the opportunity to be heard on the
proposed amendments, and that at such hearing all parties interested
and wishing to be heard were heard; and
WHEREAS, said City Council did table and refer the matter
of the rezoning of Iota 21, 22, 23 and 24, and Lots 1, 2, and 3, of
Block 5, TRACY ADDITION to the City of Corpus Christi back to the
Zoning and Planning Commission for further study; and
on the 10th day of October, 1950,
WHEREAS, such zoning matter was /again brought to the

attention of the City Council and it did, upon motion duly made, second-
ed and passed, vote that the rezoning of lots 1, 2, and 3, Block 5, of
Tracy Addition to the City be withdrawn due to the existence of deed
restrictions and that the zoning of hots 21, 22, 23 and 24 be rezoned
from present zoning use to B-1 Neighborhood Business District use:
NOR, THEREFORE,.BE IT ORDAINED BY TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the Zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi passed on the 27th day of August, 1937, appearing
of record in Volume 9, at pages 565 at seq of the Ordinance and Reso-
lution Records of Ne City of Corpus Christi, and as amended from time
to time thereafter, and in particular as amended by Ordinance Noe 2266
passed and approved by the City Council of said City on the 4th day
of May, 1948s, and appearing of record in Volume 16, pages 339 at seq
of said Ordinance and Resolution Records, BE AMENDED so that the zon-
ing of
Lots 22, 23, and 24 of Block 5, Tracy
Addition to the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas, for Rt2, Two Family Dwelling
District use; and
Lot 21, Block 5, Tracy Addition to the
City of Corpus Christi, Texas, for R-1,
One Family Dwelling District use,
be changed so as to rezone the same to Ba, Neighborhood Business
District use, and the same is hereby rezoned.
SECTION 2. That the official Zoning Map of the City of
Corpus Christi be and the same is hereby amended as herein ordainede
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That the zoning Ordinance and Map of the City
of Corpus Christi, approved on the 4th day of May, 1948, as amended
from time to time, except as herein changed shall remain in full
force and effect.

SECTIO1T 5. That the fact that it is of the greatest
ptiolic importance to put in force immediately the changes in the
Zoning Ordinance and lap as hereinabove provided, for the purpose
of providing for the orderly and progressive growth of the City,
creates a public emergency and imperative public necessity requiring
the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordinance or resolution
shall be passed finally on the day it is introduced and that such
ordinance or resolution shall be read at three several meetings
of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared that such
emergency and imperative necessity exist, requesting that said
City Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance take effect
and be passed finally on 'the day it is introduced and take effect
and be in full force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council, I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
