AN ORDINANCE
CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF AN ELECTION FOR THE PURPOSE CF DETERMINING
WHETHER OR NOT CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY AS
DESCRIBED IN ORDINANCE NO. 2873 ORDERING SUCH
ELECTION DATED SEPTEMBER 19, 1950, AND COMPRIS-
ED OF TYPO SEPARATE AREAS, SHALL BE ANNEXED TO
TEE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI; AND DELI RING AN
EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, on the 19th day of September, 1950, the City
Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed an ordinance
calling an election to be held within the City of Corpus Christi,
Texas on the 21st day of October, 1950, and such election was
ordered for the purpose of submitting to Ike qualified voters of
said City the question of whether or not certain territory should
be annexed to the City of Corpus Christi, Texas; which said terri-
tory consists of two separate areas as first described and second-
ly described in Section 1 of said Ordinance ordering the election,
which said first described territory being fully described as
follows%
BEGINNING At a point in�the present City Limits
line, said point being on the south edge of the
south abutment of the draw span of the Nueces Bay
Causeway on State Highway No. 16;
THENCE due east with the present City Limits
line parallel to the original northern City Limits
line as surveyed by Co F. H. T. Blucher in August,
1883, to its intersection with the original east k
City Limits line extended;
THENCE south with the present City Limits
line to the southeast corner of the original City
Limits line as surveyed by C. F. H. ve Blucher in
August, 1883;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction to a
point that is due north one mile from the most
easterly point of the west shoreline of Oso Greek
at mean low tide;
THENCE south with the present City Limits
line one mile to the most ea6terly point of the
west shoreline of Oso Creek at mean low tide, same
being the intersection of the west shoreline of
Oso Creek and the westerly shoreline of Corpus
Christi Bay
THENCE in a southeasterly direction with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay to its intersec-
tion with the southeast line of State Lease No. 78;
THENCE northeasterly with the southeast line of
State Leases Nose 78, 67266,51,56,33,475,4509447,420,
and 417 to the northeast corner of State Lease No.
417;

THENCE northwest along the northeast line
of State Lease No. 417 to its intersection with
the shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay;
THENCE northwesterly, along and with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bap to the most
northerly corner of State Lease Ito. 12;
THENCE southeast with the northeast line
of state Lease No. 12 to its most easterly cor-
ner;
THENCE southwest on a direct line of the
most easterly corner of State Least No. 41;
THENCE northwest along the northeast line
of State Lease No. 41 to its intersection with
the shoreline of Corpus Christi Hay;
THENCE southwesterly, westerly, northwester-
ly, along and with the shoreline of Corpus Christi
and Nueces Bays to its intersection with the south-
east comer of State Survey No. 753;
THENCE north with the east lines of state
Surveys Nos. 753 and 751 to the shoreline of Nueces
Bay;
THENCE IN A westerly direction with the shore-
line of Nueces Bap to the northeast corner of State
survey No. 686;
THENCE south with the east line of State Survey
No. 686 to the southeast corner.of said survey;
THENCE west-along the south line of State Sur-
vey No. 686 to a point being a northward extension
of the east line of State Survey No-939;
THENCE south, crossing State Survey No. 688,
with the northward extension of State Survey No.
939, and continuing on with the east line of State —
Survey No. 939 to its intersection with the north
line of the Nueces County Navigation District lands;
THENCE out with the north boundary line of
the Navigation District lands to the southeast cor-
ner of State Survey No. 708,
THENCE south with the extension of the east
line of State Survey No. 708 to its intersection
with a northeasterly projection of the east boun-
dary line of the Tex-Tex Cement Company 44.494 acre
tract;
THENCE in a southerly direction with the east
boundary line and its northeasterly project of the
said 44.494 acre tract, continuing on said course
to intersection with the present City Limits line
of the City of Corpus Christi, same being the ori-
ginal northern City Limits line as surveyed by C.
F.H. v.Blucher in August, 1883;
THENCE east with the original and present
northern City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H.
Y. Blucher in August, 1883, to its intersection
with the centerline of Avenue F, extended, of
Brooklyn Subdivision;
THENCE in a northeasterly direction with the
present City Limits line, same being the center-
line of Avenue F crossing the southern shoreline
of Nueces Bay and continuing along said centerline
extended to a point which bears north 32 deg. East
700 feet from the centerline of 34th Street, BroW yn
Subdivision;

point on the south edge of the south abut-
ment of the draw span of the Nueces Bay

PLACE GF BEGINNING;
and which said second described territory being fully described
as follows:
BEGINNING At a point 180 feet northwest of the
intersection of the centerline of Ayers Street
and the present City Limits line, sane being
180 feet south of the centerline of Gollihar
Road,
THENCE southwest parallel to and 180 feet
northwest of the centerline of Ayers Street to
a point in the northeast line of lot 3, Section
4, Bohemian Colony Lands;
THENCE southeast, crossing Dyers Street
at right angles, continuing on with the narth -
east line of Lot 6, Section 32 Bohemian Colony
Lands to the most northern corner of Southland
Estates Subdivision;
THENCE southwest to the most westerly cor-
ner of Southland Estates Subdivision,
THENCE southeast along the southwest line
of Southland Estates Subdivision and the Moravian
Village Subdivision and its southeasterly extension
to a point 180 feet southeast of the centerline of
Kostorys Road;
THENCE northeast with a line 180 feet south-
east of and parallel to the centerline of Kostorys
Road to a point in the northeast line of Lot 6,
Section 2, Bohemian Colony Lands, said point being
180 feet southeast of the centerline of Kostoryz
Road;
THENCE southeast along the northwest lines
of lots 6 and 3, Section 2, Bohemian Colony Lands
crossing Weber Road at right angles and continuing
on to a point 180 feet southeast of the centerline
of Weber Road;
THENCE northeast parallel to and 180 feet
southeast of the centerline of Weber Road to its
intersection with the present City Limits line of
the City of Corpus Christi;
THENCE in a northwesterly direction with the
present City Limits line to a point in the present
City Limits line that is 15 feet northwest of the
centerline of Kostorys Road;
THENCE South 28 deg. 321 15" West 4455.61
feet with a line that is 15 feet northwest of and
Parallel tb':the centerline of Kostorys Road to a
point;
THENCE North 61 deg. 271 15" West 1,306.5 feet
to a point, same being the southwest boundary line

Block 1, to its intersection with the present
City Limits line,
THENCE in a northwesterly direction with
the present City limits line crossing Ayers Street
to the PLACE OF BEGINNING;
WHEREAS, said ordinance directed that the question of
annexation of the above described territories be stated on the
ballot, and submitted to the voters by proposition as follows:
PROPOSITION NO. 1
"SHALL THE CITY OF OORPBS CHRISTI, BY ORDINANCE,
ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY
GENERALLY DESCRIBED AS BEING THAT TERRITORY LYING
BETWEEN THE PRESENT CITY UNITS LINE, WHICH IS
180 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF GOLLIHAR
ROAD AND HOLLEY STREET IND HOLLEY STREETIS SOUTH-
EASTERLY EXTENSION, AND BETWEEN CHAPNAN RANCH ROAD
AND WEBER ROAD, EXTENDING 180 FEET SODTHNEST OF THE
CENTERLINE OF CHAPHAN RANCH RMD AND 180 FEET soUTH-

EAST OF THE CENTEBLDE OF WEBER ROAD, AND ALSO
INCLUDING AN 80 ACRE TRACT CONSISTING OF SOUTHLAiD
ESTATES AND MORAVIAN VILI ", LYING ADJACENT TO
AND NORTHWEST OF KOSTORYZ ROAD AND ADJACENT TO
AND SOUTHWEST OF HO LEY STREET AND AN AREA IN

PARTICULARLY AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING At a point in the present City Limits
line, said point being on the south edge of the
south abutment of the draw span of the Nueces
Bay Causeway on State Highway No. 16;
THENCE due east with the present City
Limits line, parallel to the original northern
City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H. v. Blucher
in August, 1883, to its intersection with the
original east City Limits line extended;
THENCE south with the present City Limits
line to the southeast corner of the original City
Limits line as surveyed by C.F. H. v. Blucher in
August, 1883;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction to a
point that is due north one mile from the most
easterly point of the west shoreline of Oso Creek
at mean low tide;
THENCE south with the present City Limits
line one mile to the most easterly point of the
west shoreline of Oso Creek at mean low tide,
same being the intersection of the westshoreline
of Oso Creek and the westerly shoreline of Corpus
Christi Bay;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay to its intersection
with the southeast line of State Lease No. 78;
THENCE northeasterly with the southeast line
of State Leases Nos. 78, 671 66, 51, 50, 33, 475,
450, 447, 420 and 417 to the northeast corner of
State Lease No. 417;
THENCE northwest along the northeast line
of State Lease No. 417 to its intersection with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay;
THENCE northwesterly, along with the shoreline
of Corpus Christi Bay to the most northerly corner
of State Lease No. 12;
THENCE southeast with the northeast line of
State Lease No. 12 to its most easterly corner;
THENCE southwest on a direct line to the most
easterly corner of State Lease No. 41;
THENCE northwest along the northeast line of
State Lease No. 41 to its intersection with the
shoreline of Corpus Christi Bay;
THENCE southwesterly, westerly, northwesterly,
along and with the shoreline of Corpus Christi and
Nueces Bays to its intersection with the southeast
corner of State Survey No. 753;
THENCE north with the east lines of State
Surveys Nos. 753 and 751 to the shoreline of Nusces
Bay;
THENCE in a westerly direction with the shore-
line of Nueces Bay to the northeast corner of State
Survey No. 686;

No. 686 to the southeast corner of said survey,
THENCE west along the south line of State Sur-
vey No. 686 to a point being a northward extension
of the east line of State Survey No. 939;
THENCE south, crossing State Survey No. 688,
with the northward extension of State Survey No.
939, and continuing on with the east line of
State Survey No. 939 to its intersection with the
north line of Nueces County Navigation District
lands;
THENCE east with the north boundary line of
the Navigation District land to the southeast
corner of State Survey No. 708;
ONCE south with the extension of the east
line of State Survey No. 708 to its intersection
with a northeasterly projection of the east boun-
dary line of the Tex-Mex Cement Company 44.194 acre
tract;
THEME in a southerly direction with the east
boundary line and its northeasterly project of the
said 44.494 acre tratt,. continuing on said course to
intersection with the present City Limits line of
the City of Corpus Christi, same being the original
northern City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H. To
Blucher in Augcat, 1883;
THENCE east with the original and present northern
City Limits line as surveyed by C.F.H. To Blucher in
August, 1883, to its intersection with the centerline
of Avenue F, extended, of Brooklyn Subdivision;
THENCE in a northeasterly direction with the
present City Limits line, same being the center line
of Avenue F crossing the southern shoreline of Nueces
Bay and continuing along said centerline extended to
a point which bears north 32 deg. East 700 feet from
the centerline of 34th Street, Brooklyn Subdivision;
THENCE in a southeasterly direction with the
present City Limits line to a point on the south edge
of the south abutment of the draw span of the Nueces
Bay Causeway on State Highway No. 16 and the PLACE CF
BEGINNING.
BEGINNING at a point 180 feet northwest of the in-
tersection of the centerline of Ayers Street and the
present City Limits line, same being 180 feet south
of the centerline of Gollihar Road;
THENCE southwest parallel to and 180 feet north-
west of the centerline of Ayers Street to a point
in the northeast line of lot 3s Section 4, Bohemian
Colony lands;
THENCE southeast, crossing Ayers Street at right
angles, continuing on with the northeast line of Lot
6, Section 3, Bohemian Colony Landa to the most northern
corner of Southland Estates Subdivision;
THENCE southwest to the most westerly corner of
Southland Estates Subdivision;
THENCE southeastalong the southwest line of Southland
Estates Subdivision and the Moravian Pillage Subdivision
and the Moravian Village Subdivision and its southeasterly
extension to a point 180 feet southeast of the centerline
of Kostoryz Road,
THENCE northeast with a line 180 feet southeast of
and parallel to the centerline of Kostoryz Road to a
point in the northeast line of Lot.6, Section 2, Bohemian
Colony Lands, said point being 180 feet southeast of
the centerline of Kostoryz Road;

THENCE N 28 deg. 101 East along the northwest boun-
dary line of lots 18,19,20, and 22, Block 12 to its
intersection with the present City Limits line;

present City Limits line crossing Ayers Street to the
PLACE CF BEGINNING.

WHEREAS, notice of said election was actually given as di-
rected by law and as directed in the ordinance calling the elec-
tion as is shown by affidavits properly filed in the office of the
City Secretary; and
WHEREAS, said election was duly and legally held on the 21st
day of October, 1950, in conformity with the election ordinance
passed by the City Council on the 19th day of September, 1950, and
the result of said election has been certified and returned-to this
council by the proper judges and clerks thereof, and the City
Council has this day duly and dareful.ly considered the returns of
said election on the propositions hereinabove stated, and
WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so
finds, that said election was in all respects lawfully held, and
said returns duly and legally made, and that there were cast at
said election the following votest

WHEREAS, the Council, having fully checked all of the proce-
dure relative to such election, and it appearing to the Council. and
the Council so finds that said election was in all respects lawfully
and legally held, and said returns as above set out were duly and legal-
ly made, and that the votes cast at said election on said Proposition

were lawful and ksgal votes, and it appearing to the Council, and
the Council so finding that a mority of Yee legally qualified voters
of and within the City of Corpus Christi voted in favor of annexa-
tion of such additional territory as submitted under said proposi-
tion:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE .IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CORPUS CHRiSTT, TEAS:
SECTION Z. That the returns of the election held on the
a st day of October, A.D. 1950, at the various precinct voting places,
as provided for in the ordinance ordering the election, dated Septem-
ber 19, 1950, all being within the City limits of the City of Corpus
Christi, Texas, and all being convenient places within the said city
limits, be and the same are hereby received and are hereby canvassed
and the results thereaf are hereby declared to be as follows:
That said Proposition No. 1, which is as follows:
"SHALL THE CITY CF CORPUS CHRISTI, BY ORDINANCE
ANNEX TO SAID CITY CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY
GMERAILY DESCRIBED AS BRING THAT TERRITORY LYING
BETWEEN THE PRESENT CITY LIMITS LINE, WHICH IS
160 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF GDLLIHAR
ROAD AND HOLLEY STREET AND SOLELY STREETIS SOUTH-
EASTERLY EXTENSION, AND BETWEEN CH&FM RANCH ROAD
AND "MER ROAD, MENDING 180 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE
CENTERLINE OF CHAPMAN RANCH ROAD AND 180 FEET SCURH-
EAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF WEBER ROAD, AND ALSO IN-.
CLUDING AN 80 ACRE TRACT CONSISTING OF SOUTHLAND

ing hersinabove)
was carried by the majority vote of the legally qualified voters re-
siding within the city limits of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
the total vote being 768 votes for annexation of such additional terri-
tory and 334 votes against annexation of such additional territory.
SECTION II. The fact that it is important to the residents
of the territories proposed to be annexed and to the residents of the
City of Corpus Christi that an immediate record be made of the results
of the election held October 21, 1950, so that adequate provisions
may be made directed toward the annexation of such territories, creates

a public emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring the
suspension of the Charter rule that no Ordinance or Resolution shall
be passed finally on the date it is introduced and that such Ordi-
nance or Resolution shall be read at three several meetings of the
City Council, and the Mayor having declared that such public emergency
and necessity exist, and having requested that such Charter rule be
suspended, and that this Ordinance be passed finally on the date of
its introduction and take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT 15 ACCORDINGLY 30 ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a .public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
