AN ORDINANCE
RECEIVING AND ACCEPTING THE WORK OF INSTALLATION
OF BOAT SLIPS ON THE L-HEAD AND INSTALLATION OF
ADDITIONAL BOAT SLIPS ON THE LAWRENCE STREET T-
HEAD IN THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, BY THE
GOLDSTON COMPANY, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT
BY AND BETWEEN THE SAID COMPANY AND THE CITY
THEREFOR DATED AUGUST 23, 1950, AS AUTHORIZED BY
ORDINANCE N0. 2847; AUTHORIZING FINAL PA7MENT TO
SAID COMPANY FROM FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED
OUT OF SEAWALL & BREAKWATER FUND NO. 258 IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH THE FINAL ESTIMATE DATED OCTOBER 31, 1950,
ATTACHED HERETO AND MADE A PART HEREOF; AND
DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the work of installation of Boat Slips
on the L-Head and installation of additional Boat Slips on the
Lawrence Street T -Head in the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, per-
formed by Goldston Company under its contract with the City dated
August 23, 1950, as authorized by Ordinance No. 2847, having been
performed and completed in accordance with the terms and provisions
of the contract, plans and specifications, and the Director of
Public Works having inspected the same and certified to the comple-
tion of said work in accordance with said plans and specifications
and contract documents, the work aforesaid is hereby found to have
been completed in accordance with such contract, plans and specifica-
tions, and is here and now accepted and received by the City Council
of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas,
SECTION 2. That the final payment due under the contract
mentioned in Section 1 hereof and as set out in the final estimate
attached hereto and made a part hereof, prepared by the Director
of Public Works dated October 31, 1950, in the sum of $4,056.70
be made as previously authorized and appropriated from Seawall and
Breakwater Fund No. 258.
SECTION 3. The necessity for maintaining the L -Head and
T -Heads as a part of the Seawall and Storm Protection Improvements
creates a public emergency and an imperative public necessity
requiring the suspension of the Charter rule providing that no
ordinance or resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is

introduced and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at
three several meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having
declared that such emergency and necessity exist, requesting that
such Charter rule be suspended and that this ordinance be passed
finally on the day it is introduced and take effect and be in full
force and effect from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO
ORDAINED.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I. therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
