IZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
TO PROCEED WITH SUCH PROJECTS, To BE INST
BY CITY FORCES; AD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
WHEREAS, There is needed approximately $86,408.84 for cost
of the installation of necessary extensions of the Water Distribution
System, as described herein, and all materials incorporated therein;
and,
WHEREAS, The approval of said projects has been secured
from Greeley and Hansen, Consulting Engineers for the bonding company;
and
WHEREAS, There are sufficient funds available for such projects
in Fund No. 298 City of Corpus Christi Waterworks Construction Fund,
and
WREREAS, It is contemplated that said work will be done by
City Forcesr
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Cr THE CITY
OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. There is hereby appropriated the sum of Eighty-Six
Thousand Four Hundred Eight and 84/100 Dollars ($86,408.84) from No. 298
City Fo Corpus Christi Waterworks Construction Fund for Water Imprw e-
ment Projects Nos. 210, Doddridge Street from Alameda to Santa Fe; 230,
Prescott, from 15th St. to 18th St.; 231, Rosewood & Blake Streets;
233, Heinley from Niagara to 18th St.; 234, Harm Street from Ruth to
2 Airline Rd.
Agnes
35, Kostoryz Rd., from Gollihar Rd. to Lexington Blvd; 239 /from
Alameda to McArdle Road, as more fully described in the estimates attach -
-1-
ad hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. The Director of Public Works of the City of
Corpus Christi is hereby directed to proceed with the work described
in Section I hereof to be done by City Forces,
SECTION 3. The fact that it is necessary tomake such
appropriation as above set out in order that these needed water pro-
jects for extensions of the water distribution system of the City of
Corpus Christi may be commenced to provide more adequate facilities
to protect the health and general welfare of thepeople of the City
of Corpus Christi creates a public emergency and an imperative public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter rule that no ordi-
nance or resolution shall be passed finally on the day it is introduc-
ed and that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three sev-
eral meetings of the City Council, and the Mayor, having declared such
emergency and necessity to exist, requesting the suspension of said
Charter rule and that this ordinance be passed finally on the date
it is introduced and it take effect and be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, IT IS ACCORDINGLY SO ORDAIM,
PASSED AND APPROVED, This thejNay of November, 1950.

for the contract, agreement, obligation, or expenditure contemplated
in the above and foregoing Ordinance is in the Treasury of the City
of Corpus Christi to the credit of No. 298 City of Corpus Christi
Waterworks Construction Fund
Fund from which it is proposed to be drawn, and such money is not
appropriated for any other purpose.

Gentlemen:
For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the fore-
going ordinance, a public emergency and imperative necessity exist for
the suspension of the Charter rule or requirement that no ordinance or
resolution shall be passed finally on the date it is introduced, and
that such ordinance or resolution shall be read at three meetings of the
City Council; I, therefore, hereby request that you suspend said Charter
rule or requirement and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is
introduced, or at the present meeting of the City Council.
